THE MESSAGE
Superstition
-------------

Superstition constituted an integral part of the belief system of the Pagans. Prior to the advent of Islam the Arabs were steeped in superstitious beliefs, beliefs that regulated their social, economic and political activity. Superstition created a mysterious value system that gave rise to fear, suspicion and enmity. It deprived man of rational thinking and every ailment, accident or calamity was attributed to some evil force bent on destroying their lives. The situation was further aggravated by wicked "Spiritual Doctors" who exploited the unwary masses and ran lucrative businesses treating and exorcizing the "evil forces". Even today there are people who claim to know the future and try to impress people with their "divine powers". Belief in superstition detracts from Imaan in Taqdeer and the Qudrah of Allah Ta’aala.

The Noble Qur’an states: "No misfortune can happen on earth nor (afflict) your souls, but is recorded in a Book (long) before We bring it into existence; that is truly easy for Allah".

Disaster and misfortune take place according to the Will and Plan of Allah. No other force or power can direct your destiny or cause harm to you except with the permission of Allah. Some of the superstitious beliefs that filtered down from Jahiliyyah to us are: read more

DUA (PRAYER)
DUA FOR FEVER

Bismillahil kabeer aoothu billahil atheem min sharri kulli irqin na’aariw wa min harrin naar.

“in the name of Allah, the great. I seek refuge in Allah the Most Mighty from the evil of every pulsating vein and from the evil of the heat of the fire of Jahannum.”

THE STORY
THE TRIPLE FILTER TEST

During the golden Abbasid period, one of the scholars in Baghdad, the capital of Muslim caliphate at that time, was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great scholar and said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"
"Hold on a minute," the scholar replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."
"Triple filter?"
"That's right," the scholar continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"
"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."
"All right," said the scholar. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?" "No, on the contrary..."
"So," the scholar continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
"No, not really."
"Well," concluded the scholar, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

"O you who believe! Avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful." [Surah al-Hujurat 49:12]

POEM
YA-AQSA
IN THE FLOWER OF CITIES “AL-QUDS”,
YOUR LAND IS BEING STOLEN
FRACTION BY FRACTION

YA AQSA
STANDING IN THE BELOVED LAND OF PALESTINE,
WHILE THE WORLD FILLS WITH EVIL AND VICE
OUR LIVES FOR YOU WE WILL SACRIFICE

YA AQSA
THE THIRD MOST SACRED HARAM,
THE PLACE WHERE OUR PROPHET Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam PROSTRATED
ALLAH WILL KEEP YOU SAFE FROM THOSE WHO HARBOR HATRED

YA-AQSA
THE STARTING PLACE OF THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY,
BILLIONS OF MUSLIMS, THEIR CONSCIENCE ARE ASLEEP
WHILE THE INNOCENT CHILDREN LAY DOWN AND WEEP

YA-AQSA
A SHINING LIGHT UPON THE EARTH,
THE SOUNDS OF STONES ECHO IN YOUR LANDS
WHILE BLOOD IS SHED APON THE SANDS

YA-AQSA
OUR HOLY MOSQUE,
THE PEOPLE CONTINUE THEIR DETERMINATION TO FIGHT
AS LONG AS IT TAKES, DAY OR NIGHT

YA-AQSA
WE RAISE OUR VOICES WITH THE CALL OF JUSTICE
HOPING TO WIPE AWAY THE STAINS OF SADNESS

YA-AQSA
WE ARE SO FARAWAY FROM YOU
THERES ONLY ONE THING THAT WE CAN DO
AND THAT IS TO CRY UNTO ALLAH RABBUL-IZZAT FOR YOU!

A THOUGHT
ALLAH’S CREATION

He told the chamberlain of the morning breeze to spread out the emerald carpet and, having commanded the nurse of vernal clouds to cherish the daughters of plants in the cradle of the earth, the trees donned the new year's robe and clothed their breast with the garment of green foliage, whilst their offspring, the branches, adorned their heads with blossoms at the approach of the season of the roses. Also the juice of the cane became delicious honey by his power and the date a lofty tree by his care.

THE SMILE
"There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money, and was a real miser when it came to his money.
Just before he died, he said to his wife, ""When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with me."
And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
Well, he died.
He was stretched out in the casket; his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said,
"Wait just a minute!"
She had a box with her; she came over with the box and put it in the casket.
Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away.
Her friend said, "I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband."
The loyal wife replied "Listen, I'm trustworthy; I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him."
"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!?"
"I sure did" said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a cheque. If he can cash it, he can spend it."
