SUNNAH, PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD SAW
WUDHU (ABLUTION) cont…

Wash the right foot including the ankle thrice. Then wash the left foot including the ankle thrice. Make Khilaal of the toes by passing the little finger of the left hand between each of the toes, beginning with the little toe of the right foot and finishing on the little toe of the left foot. The Wudhu is now complete.

Recite Kalima Shahaadah. Perform two Rakaah Tahiyyat-ul-wudhoo provided the time is not Makrooh. Great rewards have been narrated in the Hadith for this Salaah.

THE MESSAGE
Reforming our homes?
-------------------------

Our homes are full of so many shortcomings and evils and examples of negligence. Basically, there are two things to consider: achieving our interests; which is by establishing that which is right and good, and warding off evil; by removing that which can cause it or bring it into our homes.

The first action to take is to strive towards guiding the spouse. If one's spouse is righteous, then it is a blessing indeed and a Bounty of Allah SWT. However, if one's spouse is not that righteous, then it becomes the duty of the partner to strive towards guiding him/her. The following scenario may apply:

One marries a man/woman who is not religious at first, or one may marry in the hope of guiding him/her, or under pressure from one's relatives. In such situations one should strive towards guiding him/her. Also realize that guidance comes only from Allah SWT, and that Allah SWT is the One Who reforms people. One of His blessings to his servant Zakariya AS was, as He said (interpretation of the meaning): “… and [We] cured his wife for him…” [al-Anbiya’ 21:90]. This curing or reforming may have been physical or religious. Ibn ‘Abbaas RA said: “She was barren and could not have children, then she had a child.” ‘Ataa’ said: “She was harsh of tongue, and Allah SWT reformed her.”

There are various means of guiding and reforming one’s spouse. A few examples are given here:
Pay attention towards correcting one's worship to Allah SWT in all of its aspects. Start off by strengthening the Imaan through encouragement. Encourage prayer at night (Qiyaam al-layl; recitation of Qur’an; and memorization of particular Adhkaar (prayers) at its appropriate times and occasions for saying them. Encourage the giving of charity; read useful Islamic books; listen to useful Islamic audios that would help in increasing knowledge and strengthen one’s Imaan – and continue to supply one’s partner with them.

Choose good and religious friends, with whom one can form ties of relations and have good purposeful conversations and visits. Protect him/her from evil and block off the avenues that may lead to evil. And keep away from bad companions and bad places.

These are just some of the guidelines useful in reforming our homes to enhancement in spirituality. Strive towards them and experience the difference.

DUA (PRAYER)
WHEN ONE HAS PAIN IN THE EYES

ALLAHUMMA MATTINY BIBASARY WAJ ALHU WAARITHA MINNY WA ARINY FIL ADUWWY THAREE WAN SURNEE ALAA MAN THALAMANEE.

“O Allah! Grant me benefit from my sight, make it my inheritor (remembrance), show me (my revenge in my) enemies lifetime and help me against those who oppress me.”

AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
TWO ANIMALS
How to choose a friend!
-------------------------

The donkey carries burdens with patience and without objection. Unless your friend can do this he will be unsuccessful, because without patience one cannot carry the responsibilities of life.

The dog is faithful to its master. If the master tells the dog to stay somewhere until he returns, the dog will stay, even until death. If the owner beats it and chases it away, the dog will still return, with its tail wagging, when its master calls.

The perfect friend must have such a character that he/she will accept whatever dirt is thrown on him, whether by words or by actions. To have a friend, be a friend. Sometimes in life as you grow, your friends will either grow or go. Surround yourself with people who reflect values, goals interests and lifestyle.

Remember what your elders used to say, ""Birds of a feather flock together. If you're an eagle, don't hang around chickens: Chickens Can’t Fly!"

RECIPE
SWISS ROLL
Ingredients

2 Eggs separated - ¾ cup castor sugar - ½ cup water - 1 ½ tsp baking powder - 1 cup flour – Jam.

Method
Whisk egg whites till stiff. Beat egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy. Add water, Baking powder and flour, fold egg white into batter. Spread into small swiss roll pan. Bake at 210 for 10 mins. Remove from oven, spread with jam. Roll into swiss roll quickly.

COOKING TIP
Sifting means to put your dry ingredient through a flour sifter or fine sieve.

A THOUGHT
Works are the one thing needful; the doctrine of faith without works is a delusion." "Commands and prohibitions are not for observance, but to demonstrate our weakness, that we may see our own weakness (to carry them out), and thereby recognize and confess Allah's power."

THE SMILE
A man was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. The man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight.

He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, "Kathy, we are in Sacramentofor almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your?> legs?"" The blind lady replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs."

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses.

People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!"

THE NEWS
Ismail Patel of the Friends of Al Aqsa organisation says digging under the AlAqsa Masjid has not stopped. Last week Jerusalem’s mayor ordered stop to project. Ismail says this is only at a bridge leading to the masjid and not the actual project. Mayor Uri Lupolianski says the decision to delay the project was taken so that the general public could express any opposition. Muslim leaders say the delay is not sufficient. Jerusalem’s Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein says the problem is the digging, which has not stopped. He says only an announcement from the Israeli government ordering a stop to all work and authorizing the Waqf to embark on the necessary repair work will satisfy Muslims.

Unity talks between Hamas and Fatah have come across obstacles. Fatah says Hamas leaders yesterday presented a list of conditions for the resignation of the Hamas-led government. Without the resignation the power-sharing deal cannot go forward. Hamas wants the President Abbas to approve the Executive Force, a 5,600-strong military group set up by Hamas last year despite the president's objections. Hamas also wants Abbas to approve the appointment of dozens of Hamas members to senior civil service positions.

Lawyer Zahir Omar was back in court yesterday with Khalid Rashid case. Omar says he wants to know from Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula where Rashid is. It is claimed that Nqakula told a meeting of the Committee Against Torture in Geneva last year that to his knowledge Rashid is in Pakistan. The minister apparently says Rashid was visited by his officials there.Immigration officer Joe Swartland denied that the minister said that security officials visited Rashid in Pakistan. He also denied that Rashid disappeared. He said Pakistan had provided more than ample proof that it had received him in that country. The case continues today.

The United States is setting up a command center to oversee U.S. military activities in Africa. Known as AFRICOM, US military officials say the center will run anti-terrorism and humanitarian operations across the entire continent. Critics of the expansion say the US wants to maintain oil supplies from the continent, especially from the Gulf of Guinea where the US is hoping to step up oil exports.

The summit on alcohol and drug abuse ended in Johannesburg with agreement amongst participants that drug abuse is on the rise. Alcohol remains the drug of choice amongst most drug users. More people are also using dagga, cocaine, mandrax and heroine. Drugs and alcohol have been identified as a major cause of road accidents and deaths. New laws on drugs and alcohol, which is hoped to reduce the supply and demand of substances is been drawn up.
