THE MESSAGE
The Eternal, Living Reality
by Khurram Murad
--------------------

The Qur'an is the word of the Ever-living Allah; it has been sent down to guide man for all times to come. No book can be like it. As you come to the Qur'an, Allah speaks to you. To read the Qur'an is to hear Him, even to converse with Him, and to walk in His ways. It is the encounter of life with the Life-giver. He has sent down upon you the Book with the Truth… as guidance unto humankind ...' (Al 'Imran 3: 2-3).

For those who heard it for the first time from the lips of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, the Qur'an was a living reality. They had absolutely no doubt that, through him, Allah was speaking to them. Their hearts and minds were therefore seized by it. Their eyes overflowed with tears and their bodies shivered. They found each word of it deeply relevant to their concerns and experiences, and integrated it fully into their lives. They were completely transformed by it both as individuals and as a corporate body - into a totally new, alive and life-giving entity. Those who grazed sheep, herded camels and traded petty merchandise became the leaders of humankind.

Today we have the same Qur'an with us. Millions of copies of it are in circulation. Day and night, it is ceaselessly recited. In homes, in Masjids, and from pulpits. Voluminous exegetical works exist expounding its meaning. Words pour out incessantly to explain its teachings and to exhort us to live by it. Yet eyes remain dry, hearts remain unmoved, minds remain untouched, lives remain unchanged. Ignominy and degradation appear to have become the lot of the followers of the Qur'an. Why? read more

DUA (PRAYER)
REMOVAL FROM BAD LUCK/ILL OMEN

ALLAHUMMA LAA KHAYRA ILLAA KHAYRUK WA LAA TAYRA ILLAA TAYRUK WA LAA ILAAHA GHAYRUK.

“O Allah! There is no goodness and Barakah besides Your Goodness and Barakah and besides Your Omen there is no other omen and besides You there is no other deity.”

AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said," Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's... he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.) Whatever it is... You need to know that Allah was 'standing at the window' and He saw the whole thing... He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He is most forgiving.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about Allah is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He makes the Angels forget... It is by Allah's grace and mercy that we are forgiven.

Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today. Share this with a friend and always remember: Allah is 'at the window' watching you. Keep it Real!!!

½ pkt spaghetti boiled in salted water - ½ kilo steak (cut into strips) - 1 tsp green chillies - 1 tsp salt - Pinch Arad - 1 tsp Dhana jeero - ½ tsp lemon pepper - ½ tsp white pepper - Cook steak with above masala until tender.

Tomato Chutney - 4 tomatoes liquidized - 1 onion chopped - Curry leaves - 1 tblsp red ginger garlic masala - 1 tsp salt – Arad - Dhana jeero. Cook until thick.

White sauce
½ litre milk - ½ tsp salt - 2 tblsp flour - ½ tsp oreganum - Black pepper - Mix all to a paste.

To assemble, layer a long Pyrex dish with spaghetti. Layer steak over the spaghetti. Pour the tomato chutney over then pour the white sauce over. Top with grated cheese and bake in an oven on 180 for 30 mins.

COOKING TIP
To simmer means to cook in liquid almost to boiling, but not hot enough to bubble. Good cookware is essential to successful simmering.

A THOUGHT
The right road is attainable, for the heart's life is the food of the soul. Whatever the carnal man enjoys yields no fruit, even as salt and waste land. Its result is naught but remorse; its traffic yields only loss. It is not profitable in the long run. Its name is called 'bankrupt' in the upshot. Discern, then, the bankrupt from the profitable, consider the eventual value of this and that.

THE SMILE
The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight.
Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM” He left it where he knew she would find it.
The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM. Wake up."
