FUNERALS - MAYYITS

COMMENTARY: The word Naazi'(it is derived from naz' and it means 'to draw vigorously'. The word Gharqan is its corroborative because the word Gharq is used here in the sense of Ighraq and means 'to exert oneself much or to the utmost extent in the thing'. The Arabic idiom has it 'He drew the bow with great vigour'. The Surah begins with an oath by certain characteristics of the angels to affirm that the Resurrection is a certainty. The subject of the oath, however, has been contextually deleted. The oath of the angels is probably apt on this occasion because they are all the time involved in the administration and running of the world. They are executing their duties loyally. On the Day of Judgement, all material causes will be severed. Unusual events will occur and the angels will be involved in them.

Move forward collectively

We live so many years after the golden era, yet we are fast, we awake late at night, our minarets echo with the oneness of Allah and our hearts rejoice at the sweetness of the Quran.

Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said; “Glad tidings to those who see me and believe in me, and glad tidings sevenfold to those who believe in me without seeing me. (Ahmed) Too often we simply give up overwhelmed by conditions. We feel hopeless and helpless. This is the ploy of Shaytaan to demoralize and defeat us.

We shouldn’t sell ourselves too short. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam longed to meet us. One day he asked the Sahaba “When will I meet my brothers?” The Sahaba asked “Are we not your brothers O Rasul of Allah?” He replied “You are my companions. My brothers are those people who will believe me even though they won’t see me.”(Hayatus Sahaba)

Many of the happenings around the world today are the signs of Qiyaamah but we shouldn’t resign ourselves to the thought that we are doomed because Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said “There will always be a group in my Ummah who will uphold the command of Allah.”

We should Endeavour to seek out this group, be part of them and become like them, as Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has mentioned in another narration: This group will get a similar reward to that of the Sahaba.” This opportunity exists for us and will continue to exist till Qiyaamah.

The world is thirsty for solutions. We have the theory. It’s time for the practitioners to stand up; it’s time for the revolutionaries to stand up. We need to become Muslims with a mission, Muslims with an identity, and Muslims with a message for humanity.

Allah has declared “you are the best of the nations who have been raised for the benefit of humankind.” Best of nations means every Muslim, Aalim or not has been raised for humankind i.e. Muslims and non-Muslims. Here we all have a roll to play. Be it character shown in the business arena or in the interaction with our neighbours. If we fail in this duty, then not only will we be failing ourselves, and the Muslim Ummah but humanity at large.

Islam has the solution to the problems of the world. We need to take Islam to the people of the world. For this to happen we need to rekindle the Islamic brotherhood and move forward collectively as the Sahaba did coming out of the darkness of Jahiliyyah in the Arabian dessert and illuminating the world with the radiance of Islam. When the decline of the Roman and Persian superpowers started the Sahaba were preparing them to take over. The decline of the superpowers of today has started. Are we preparing ourselves?

DUA (PRAYER)
WHILST IN THE SHOPPING CENTRE
LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH. LAHUL MULKU WALAHUL HAMDU YUHUYEE WA YUMEET. WAHUWA HAYYUN LAA YAMOOT BIYADIHIL KHAYR WAHUWA ALAA KULLI SHAYIN QADEER.

There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. He is alone. He has no Partner. To Him belongs all Kingdom and to Him belongs all Praise. He is the one who gives life and He is the one who takes life. He is ever living and no death comes to him. And He has power over everything.

AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
A Special Friend
During interval at school, all the girls would sit in a classroom and eat the lunch that their mothers had packed for them. Each day as Ayesha ate her lunch, she would notice Saadiyah sitting alone. Saadiyah did not bring lunch. While all the other girls were eating, Saadiyah would sit quietly or put her head down on the desk.

Ayesha began to wonder why Saadiyah never brought lunch to school. She noticed that Saadiyah was very thin, and that she did not have as much energy as the other girls. Her clothes and shoes also looked very old. She realised that Saadiyahs family probably did not have enough money for Saadiyah to bring lunch to school.

Ayesha had always been taught that Allah loves and rewards for some. One day she sat next to Saadiyah and asked, “Would you please help me eat my lunch?” Saadiyah was surprised. She was also very hungry, so she agreed. That was the first day that Ayesha and Saadiyah ate lunch together. Saadiyah remembered to thank Ayesha by saying “Jazakallah,” which means, “May Allah reward you.”

Thereafter, Ayesha would always share lunch with Saadiyah. They soon became very close friends. Saadiyah explained to Ayesha why she didn't bring lunch every day. She said “My parents do not have much money. That is why we can only eat in the morning and in the evening. We are making Dua to Allah everyday to make it easier for us. Insha Allah, our Duas will soon be answered.”

Ayesha like sharing her lunch with Saadiyah. Saadiyah, however, felt sad that she could not give Ayesha anything in return. She said Ayesha, “everyday, you share your lunch with me, but I can't share anything with you. I wish that there was something that I could do for you.”

Ayesha thought about it for a moment. Then she smiled. She said, “My mother always says that the best gift that you can give to a person is to make Dua for them. If you really want to do something for me, then you can make Dua for me.”

Saadiyah agreed that it was a good idea. After that, she began to make Dua for Ayesha everyday. Eventually, Saadiyah’s parents could afford to give her lunch every day. Side and Ayesha like to share though. Now they had two lunches to share. Through sharing, Saadiyah and Ayesha remained close friends. Saadiyah has never forgotten how wonderful Ayesha was to her. She still continues to make Dua, for her special friend.

Method
Add steak ginger/garlic salt and huldi in a pot with 1 cup water and leave to cook. Once steak is soft and water is burnt out add in 1 tblsp red chillie powder, 3 tblsps butter and ¼ cup tomato sauce and mix all together. Layer streak in casserole dish and layer macaroni. Sprinkle with cheese and slices of green pepper. Bake in moderate oven for 20 mins.

COOKING TIP
Never make a paste of raw onions if you want to keep it for any amount of time. It will turn bitter. Always fry them in a little oil, and then grind.

THE SMILE
One afternoon, a man went to his doctor and told him that he hasn't been feeling well lately. The doctor examined the man, left the room, and came back with three different bottles of pills.
The doctor said, "Take the green pill with a big glass of water when you wake up. Take the blue pill with a big glass of water after you eat lunch. Then just before going to bed, take the red pill with another big glass of water."
