THE MESSAGE
Make your home a Qiblah
What is meant is taking the home as a place of worship?

-----------------------------------------------------
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And We inspired Moosa and his brother (saying): ‘Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as places for your worship, and perform al-Salaah, and give glad tidings to the believers.’” [Yoonus 10:87].

Ibn ‘Abbas said: “They were commanded to take their dwellings as places of prayer [lit. mosques].”

Ibn Katheer said: “This - and Allah knows best - was because of the intensity of the tribulation that they were facing from Pharaoh and his people. They were commanded to pray much, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): ‘O you who believe! Seek help with patience and prayer…’ [al-Baqarah 2:153], and as it was reported in the Hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when he was distressed by something, would pray.” read more

DUA (PRAYER)
What to Say at Times of Grief, Concern, and Sadness
It is reported of Rasulullah SAW that if something distressed him he would say:
Yã hayyu yã qayyumu, bi-rahmatica 'astagheeth…
O' Living [a life not followed by death]. O Sustainer, in your Mercy I plead for rescue.

THE STORY
Not Dead Yet
The Emperor asked the wise man, "What happens to a man of enlightenment after death?"
"How should I know?" replied the wise man.
"Because you are the wise man," answered the Emperor.
"Yes sir," said the wise man, "but not a dead one."

People's reactions to this story
"Knowledgeable people are not afraid to say "I don't know" regarding things that they cannot know. Observe all that you can. Do not invent what you cannot know."

"This story seems to me to be saying that we should rely on our own experience. That is the only thing that we truly "know". The wise man could not talk about what happened to an enlightened man after death because he had never experienced death."

"I believe that this story is trying to tell us that first hand experience is the only kind of knowledge we can truly have."

To know that you know what you know is all anyone can really know!!

The future is unforeseeable and the past is but dead images, we only really experience the present moment.

A fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer.

POEM
Zohra Moosa (Deaf Poet)
Isolated...
------------

I am isolated
I watch them ignoring me
I feel awful
I see them sharing

I am always isolated
I watch them being together
They do not need me
They feel awful to speak with their hands

They feel it takes time to chat with me
I am still isolated
I still watch them being together
Will I ever have a friend I wonder?

I am feeling awkward to use my mumbo-jumbo
voice for their sake
They ask for repetitions
What more must I do?

Can't they come in half way for my sake?
They know their friends are not true friends
but they go beyond
because they are too scared to be isolated like me!

RECIPE
CHICKEN LAGAN
Ingredients

2 cups chicken fillet cubed - 1 tsp Ghee - ½ tsp salt - 1 tblsp green chillies - ½ tsp black pepper - Braise the chicken with the above ingredients until cooked.

Soak 4 slices of bread in 1 cup of milk for 15 minutes. 1 Tin cream style sweet corn - 2 eggs - 2oz butter - ¼ cup peas - 1 tblsp sojee - 1 tsp Baking powder - chopped Dhana.

Method
Whisks eggs and add to bread mixture. Add rest of ingredients to milk mixture including the cooked chicken and mix well. Pour into Pyrex dish and bake in oven at 180c for approximately 1 hour.

COOKING TIP
Always add a teaspoon (at least, if recipe does not call for more) of wheat flour to the fat while popping gum crystals, to ensure their even popping of the crystals. They will also not stick together.

A THOUGHT
An animal is sought for its useful qualities, not for its physical features. If you understand this, then it will be clear that knowledge excels when compared with other attributes. Knowledge, however, is in itself an absolute excellence, apart from any attribution. It is the description of Allah’s perfection, and through it the angels and prophets were imbued with honour. The fleet horse is better than the slow. Knowledge is, therefore, an excellence in the absolute and apart from any attribution.

THE SMILE
New Office

A young businessman rented a beautiful office and furnished it with antiques. However, no business was coming in. Sitting there, worrying, he saw a man come into the outer office. Wanting to look busy, he picked up the phone and pretended he was negotiating a big deal. He spoke loudly about big figures and huge commitments. Finally, he put down the phone and asked the visitor "Can I help you?"

The man said, "I've come to install the phone."
