THE
BULL AND THE GOAT

A BULL, escaping from a Lion, hid in a cave which some shepherds
had recently occupied. As soon as he entered, a He-Goat
left in the cave sharply attacked him with his horns. The
Bull quietly addressed him: "Butt away as much as you
will. I have no fear of you, but of the Lion. Let that monster
go away and I will soon let you know what is the respective
strength of a Goat and a Bull."
It shows an evil disposition to take advantage of a friend
in distress.

calls are growing for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,
as Israel continues an aerial assault that has left almost 400
people dead.
Despite growing pressure on Barack Obama to speak out on the
crisis in Gaza, the US president-elect has remained silent on
the issue.
Khaleda Zia, leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP),
has branded the country's general election result "farcical".
Newly formed Congress of the People (COPE) says it wants to
test its strength by taking on the ANC in its Eastern Cape heartland
when the new party unveils its election manifesto in Port Elizabeth
next month.
Johannesburg police will be out in Hillbrow in large numbers
and are taking a "zero tolerance approach" this New
Year's Eve.

BANANA BREAD
---------------
Ingredients
¾ cup butter / stork margarine - 1 ¼ cup castor sugar -
3 eggs - 5 ripe bananas (mashed) - 2 ½ cups flour - 1 ½
teaspoons baking powder - Pinch of salt - 1 teaspoon bicarbonate
of soda - ½ cup milk - 1 teaspoon caramel or vanilla essence
- ½ cup chopped pecan nuts.
Method
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy - Mix in
the mashed bananas - Add the lightly beaten eggs and beat
well - Add the sifted flour, baking powder and salt - Add
the bicarbonate of soda blended with the milk - Then add
the vanilla and the nuts and mix well - Bake in 2 lined,
greased baking tins at 180 degree C for an hour.

| THE SMILE |
A
COUPLE GOING OUT
----------------------
A Husband and Wife are going out for the evening. The last
thing they do is put their cat out. The taxi arrives, and
as the couple walk out of the house, the cat scoots back in.
The
husband returns inside to chase it out. His wife, not wanting
it known that the house would be empty, explains to the taxi
driver, 'My husband is just going upstairs to say goodbye
to my mother.'
Several
minutes later, an exhausted husband arrives and climbs back
into the taxi saying, 'Sorry I took so long, the stupid idiot
was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her with a coat
hanger several times before I could get her to come out!'
