SEEKING
FORGIVENESS

The situation of the best amongst the pious and guided people
is that when they sin, they seek Allaah’s forgiveness
and when they commit errors, they repent. The Prophet sallallaahu
‘alaihi wa sallam said, ‘All the sons of Adam
are sinners and the best among the sinners are those who
repent.’ (Ahmad and others)
It
is a manifestation of the mercy of Allaah upon his slaves
that He stretches out His Hand during the night so that
those who sin during the day may repent and stretches His
Hand out during the day in order for those who sinned during
the night to repent. He forgives all sins. People should
therefore not despair of the mercy of their Lord however
great and many their sins may be. Allaah says that which
translates as: “And who despairs of the mercy of his
Lord except for those astray?” (Al-Hijr: 56).
At-Tirmidhi
and others reported on the authority of Anas ibn Maalik who
said, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alaihi
wa sallam saying: “Allaah says, ‘O son of Adam!
As long as you call unto me and seek (forgiveness from) me,
I will forgive you for all of the sins that you may commit
and I do not care (how many they amount to). O son of Adam!
If you come to me with what is almost as much as the earth
(in volume) in sins, but you meet me without having associated
any partner with Me in worship, I will give you the same amount
of forgiveness.’ Allaah commanded His Messenger sallallaahu
‘alaihi wa sallam – even though he is the most
pious of mankind - to be sincere in religion and frequently
seek for forgiveness when He said that which translates to:
“So know (O Muhammad) that their is no deity except
Allaah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing
men and believing women.” (Muhammad: 19). read

| The
presidents of Sudan and Chad have agreed in principle to prevent
armed groups from operating along their shared border area.
The
Southern African Development Community (SADC) observer mission
says it will be watching Zimbabwe's elections closely. They
say they will be monitoring Zimbabwe’s compliance with
regional guidelines on the conduct of free and fair elections.
The
US economy has been hit by a new series of setbacks. After
dropping sharply against the Euro in recent weeks, there has
reportedly also been a major decrease in consumer spending.
Another drop in the vale of the dollar together with the high
oil prices, has led to fears of a deeper recession.
The
court cast involving ANC President Jacob Zuma and French arms
company Thint, came to an end yesterday. The Constitutional
Court reserved judgment on the case.

| RECIPE |
SUGAR AND SPICY ROLLS

Cups flour - 1 cup sugar - 1 tsp salt - ¼ cup butter,
soft - 1 egg beaten - 1 pkt instant yeast - ¼ cup
warm water - +- 1 cup skim milk.
Dipping
¾
cup sugar - 1
tsp cinnamon - 1
cup pecan nuts, chopped - ½
cup butter, melted.
Method
Place the flour, salt, sugar, butter, egg, yeast
in a bowl. Make a soft dough with the milk and water. Knead
and leave to rise till double in bulk. Punch down and make
into about 18 rolls. Roll into finger shape rolls. Mix the
sugar, cinnamon and nuts in a bowl. Dip each roll in butter,
then in the sugar mixture. Place
on a greased oven pan. Leave
to rise till double in size. Heat
oven to 190 degrees. Bake
for about 35 min. Brush
with oil or butter.

| COOKING
TIP |
Always
set puddings, jellies, etc. untill very firm, but do not allow
them to freeze hard. They will Lose their original lightness
by doing so. Chill untill well set in freezer, then transfer
to chiller Or lower section of fridge. Return to freezer for
just 10 minutes before serving. |
