THE STORY

PRESSURE AT WORK
--------------------
I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tyre made him lose an hour of work & his electric drill quit, his ancient one-ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked towards the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the tree. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation.

His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask Allah to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.

"Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick them up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."

A THOUGHT
GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD
--------------------------------------

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.
2) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
3) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
4) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
5) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.
6) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE SMILE

CHICKEN SURPRISE
------------------
A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the "Chicken surprise." The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.

Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.

"Good grief, did you see that?" she asks her husband. He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.

Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation. "Please sir," says the waiter, "what you order?"

The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise."
(You're going to love this...)
"Ah... so sorry," says the waiter, "I bring you Peeking Duck!
