HADITH/SAYINGS OF MUHAMMAD
SALLALLAHU ALYHI WA SALLAM

Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah, (Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam) appointed a man in charge of an army unit who led them in Salaah (prayer); he always concluded his recitation with Surat Al-Ikhlas: "Say (O Muhammad (PBUH)): 'He is Allah, (the) One. Allah-us-Samad (Allah - the Self-Sufficient). He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none equal or comparable to Him.''' (112:1-4) Upon their return to Al-Madinah, they mentioned this to Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam), who said, "Ask him why he does so?'' He was asked and he said, "This Surah contains the Attributes of Allah, the Gracious, and I love to recite it. Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam) then told them, "Tell him that Allah loves him". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Commentary: We learn from the Hadith the following:
1. The Companions always rushed to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam) to ask his opinion about anything they noticed strange to them.
2. The superiority of Surah Al-Ikhlas as it clarifies points of Tauhid.
3. The permissibility to recite two Surah during Salaah, apart from Surah Al-Fatihah, in one single Rak`ah.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been sworn in for a second term as Iran's president, hailing his re-election as "the start of major change in Iran and in the world".

North Korea has released two American journalists jailed for illegally entering the country following a visit by Bill Clinton, the former US president, North Korean state media says.

The US government has said it considers Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the elected president of Iran, following a disputed election after which thousands of Iranians took to the streets.

Telkom workers are preparing to start a full-blown strike tomorrow, with salary negotiations not expected to resume until August 11.

RECIPE

Iced Litchi & Lemon Tea

3 Cups boiling water
1 tea bag
4 stems lemon grass
1 cup Fairland litchi Juice
¼ cup roses lime cordial
¾ cup water
½ cup sugar
1 cup water
1 lemon sliced thinly
2 cups ice cubes
3 leaves lemon grass

Add tea bag to boiling water. Add lemon grass and let tea infuse for 10 min. Remove tea bag. Add litchi juice, Lime cordial and water to tea mixture. Boil sugar and water until a thin syrup forms. Add syrup in the tea mixture and cool over night. Add lemon slices, ice cubes and lemon grass and serve.

All Praise be to the one who Created us;
There are some who make His existence a fuss;
Those who disbelieve in Him, they are in Loss;

In this life we have a test;
The question: whose fear of Allah is the best?
To worship him is our quest.

Time and Time again we are faced with situations;
In which we must make tough decisions;
Fools are we, we think we're so smart;
Shaytan attacks us with many ideas like darts;
According to him, we plan and chart;
Not knowing that he is poisoning our hearts;
The time comes when we realize the mistake in our Parts;
One last chance!, for some the Tauba starts;

Even still, some don't ask of His Forgiveness;
They don't realize that they're in a big mess;
Never do they ask of Allah's Mercy;
They have eyes, but can they really see?

Taking Out the Trash Joke
--------------------------
Since I am a busy mom of four, I rely on my children to help me out with everyday chores around the house. One morning I was running around trying to get the children and myself ready, when I suddenly realized it was trash pickup day. So I handed a bag of garbage to my sleepy seven-year-old son and told him to toss it in the trash bin on his way out the door.

Glancing out my window moments later, I saw him wearily boarding the bus. He was carrying his backpack, his lunchbox and a big white bag of garbage.
