All praise is due to Allaah, the Mighty, the Generous. I thank Him and seek for His forgiveness. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship save Him and that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) is His servant and messenger. O Allaah! Shower peace and blessings upon him as well as his family and companions.

Brethren in faith, always be conscious of Allaah by doing good deeds and abstaining from forbidden acts for, it is only through fear of Allaah that you can attain prosperity in this world and the pleasure of Allaah in the hereafter.

Fellow Muslims, it should be known to you that acts of worship that Allaah ordained on His servants have two aims:

First: To purify Muslim's soul in order to make it elligible for dwelling in the everlasting Paradise. Allaah says:

( قد أفلح من تزكى وذكر اسم ربه فصلى )

"Indeed, whoever purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islamic monotheism) and remembers (glorifies) the name of his Lord and prays will have success." (Al-A'laa 87:14-15).

Second: To make all the mankind benefit therefrom. This is evident in this verse:

( كنتم خير أمة أخرجت للناس تأمرون بالمعروف وتنهون عن المنكر وتؤمنون بالله )

"You are the best of peoples ever raised up for the mankind; you enjoin all that is good and forbid all that is evil and you believe in Allaah." (Aal 'Imraan 3:110)

Ibn Katheer, while commentig on this verse said that Muslims are the most beneficial to the mankind by virtue of their enjoining good, forbidding evil and belief in Allaah. In a Hadeeth, the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

"Mankind are Allaah's dependents and the dearest of all His servants to Him are the most beneficial to His dependents." read more

FORGIVENESS

It is reported of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) that he said: "The best of Duas for forgiveness is: 'Allahumma 'anta rabbee, la 'ilaha 'illa 'anta, khalaqtanee, wa 'ana `abduka, wa 'ana `ala `ahdika wa wa`dika mastata`tu, 'a`outhu bika min sharri ma sana`tu, 'aboo'u laka bini`matika 'alayya, wa 'aboo'u bithambee, faghfirlee fa'innahu la yaghfiru 'aththunooba 'illa 'anta."

Whoever says this as he enters upon evening, then, dies that night, he would enter Paradise; and if one says this as he enters upon morning, then, dies that day, he would enter Paradise."

1kg chicken breasts (washed, drained and cubed)

MARINATE IN:
11/4 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp red chillies
3 tbs Italian dressing
3 tbs mayonnaise
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 med sized bottle pickled onions
3 green peppers
1 punnet baby potatoes (boiled)
fresh pineapple cubes
Butter for basting

METHOD:
Put the cubes of chicken on skewers with pickled onions, peppers, pineapple cubes (as desired). Add baby potatoes. Baste with butter and braai / grill. Serve on platters with sauce.

SAUCE:
2 tbs tomato sauce 2 tbs mayonnaise
125g butter lemon juice
Garlic (crushed)

METHOD:
Boil together and pour over sosaties.

COCKTAIL SAUSAGE PIES
500g puff pastry
1 kg cocktail sausages (steamed & cooled)
1 egg (lightly beaten)
sesame seeds

METHOD:
Roll out puff pastry and cut into strips, to fit around sausages. Wrap the strips around each cocktail sausage leaving a little space to see sausage. Brush lightly with egg and sprinkle sesame seeds. Refrigerate for 30 mins. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 o C for 30 mins until golden brown.
