ADVICE

Handling criticism

Rather than trying to avoid criticism, expert performers welcome it. They seek out coaches and advisors who can give them constructive, sometimes even painful feedback. They then use this feedback as a guide for steady improvement.
Here are some steps you can take to handle criticism effectively:

1. Acknowledge Your Error
Acknowledging a mistake is not the same as acknowledging that you are an inferior person/a failure. If you believe the criticism is accurate, take full responsibility. Dont blame something or someone else and dont make excuses. If appropriate, offer a diplomatic apology: Im sorry that my actions led to that result. It certainly was not my intention. Again, if appropriate, ask for suggestions on how you can improve your performance the next time.

2. Take Corrective Action
After you ve heard the other person out completely, and listened to any suggestions for improvement, state/communicate your eagerness to improve in the future. If appropriate, describe any actions you will take at his time to counterbalance your previous error.

3. Acknowledge the other persons motive
Thank the other person for the feedback and make sure to state how valuable you consider it. This demonstrates your ability to use criticism as a way to improve an essential quality of a leader. In addition, let the other person know that you are open to receiving his or her feedback in the future.

Even when you dont care for the style in which criticism is presented, be thankful that the other person is willing to give you feedback, and along with it, an opportunity to improve.

How to Take Criticism : Do Not Respond Defensively
A defensive response can spoil the good effects of criticism prevent people from offering you criticism in the future.

The Strangers

Many times in many situations the people that follow the religion of Allah feel a sense of not belonging, of being out of place, of not fitting in, and, in other words, of being strange.

This feeling could occur in a gathering of non-Muslims, but, unfortunately, this feeling sometimes also occurs when one is with his fellow Muslims. A person sees his brothers and sisters doing acts that are contrary to Islam, or taking part in innovations that sometimes even border on kufr (apostasy), yet he feels that he does not have enough power or courage to stop them in these acts.

Some brothers and sisters, especially if they do not have enough taqwa or Islamic knowledge, sometimes buckle under the pressure of their peers and join in these acts, knowing that this is not what Allah wants them to do. However, feeling helpless, since it seems that they are alone in their ideas and without any support to help them do what is right, they succumb to such pressures.

These brothers and sisters, may Allah have mercy on them, should take consolation in the verses of the Qur'an and the many statements of the Prophet (peace be upon him) describing this very situation of strangeness that they feel.

*Why Have They Been Called "Strangers"?*

Allah says in the Qur'an, "If only there had been, in the generations preceding you, people having wisdom, prohibiting others from evil in the earth; except a few of those whom we have saved from among them." (Hud 116).

This verse speaks of the few people on earth, the "strangers", who prohibit mankind from evil.

These are the same people the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke about when he said: "Islam began as something strange, and it shall return to being something strange, so give glad tidings to the strangers." It was asked, "Who are those strangers, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied,"They are a small group of people among a large evil population. Those who oppose them are more than those who follow them." [Reported by ibn Asaakir.]

So ask yourself this question brothers and sisters....*"AM I A STRANGER?"*

QUOTE (Of Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam)

Three beneficial things to know as a muslim:

1) Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam said: "If a person recites 'Ayatal Kursi' after every Fardh namaz ...there will be nothing between him and Jannah except Death"

2) There is a Hadith that says "La Haula Wala Quuata illa billahil aliyyul azeem" is such a great medicine that it cures every disease and the most minor disease it cures is "Sorrow" (Gham)

3) Another Hadith says "if a person recites Surah Ikhlaas (QUL Huwallahu Ahad... ) 10 times a day Allah Ta'aala will build a palace for him in Jannah"

THE SMILE

THE MUM TEST

I was out walking with my 4-year-old daughter. She picked up something off of the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground; you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, And probably has germs,' I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Mum, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart.'

I was thinking quickly and replied, 'All mums know this stuff. It's on the Mum Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mum.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

'Oh...I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad.' 'Exactly,' I replied with a big smile on my face.
