THE FRIDAY SERMON

TRAVELLING FOR IMPORTANT PURPOSES AND SOME OF ITS ETIQUETTES

All praise is due to Allah who has opened His friends insights with wisdom and lessons. He has selected their zeal to profit from witnessing His creation at home and in travelling and to give consideration upon that which the eye meets.

We bear testimony that there is no diety but Allah alone, Who has no partner and we bear testimony that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, His slave and messenger is the leader of all mankind.

May Allah’s blessings and salutations be in abundance upon him, his family and his illustrious companions who follow his character and life pattern. The Shariah has given permission for travel and has ordered one to do so when permissibility and necessity demands. It has also stipulated rules and has mentioned virtues regarding it.

Allah Ta’aala mentions in the Holy Quraan: “The person who leaves his house towards Allah and His messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam’s path and is overcome by death, verily his reward is upon Allah, Allah is most Forgiving and Most Merciful."

Allah Ta’aala says: “The person amongst you who is ill or on a journey, can fast at a later time.”

NB. Ill - If there is no other alternative. i.e. if instructed by an Allah - Fearing Muslim doctor.
Journey – If one is regarded as a Musaafir in the eyes of Shariat.

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said: “Verily Allah Ta’aala bestowed upon me a revelation that the person who sets out on a journey for the acquisition of knowledge I will ease the roads towards Jannah (Paradise) for him.” (Baihaqi)

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said: “Once when a person visited his brother in another town, Allah Ta’aala posted an angel on his path who asked him “Where are you heading to?”. He answered, “I intend to visit my brother in this town.” The angel went on to say…”Have you any favour that you wish to be rewarded for?” He replied “NO, besides that I love him for the sake of Allah Ta’aala.” The angel said: I am a messenger from Allah (Informing you that) verily Allah Ta’aala loves you as you love him for His sake.” (Muslim)

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said: “Travelling is part of punishment – it deprives one from his sleep, his food and his drink and when any of you completes his necessities let him hasten towards his family.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytaan.

Be not as those who come forth from their dwelling boastfully and to be seen by men and who prevent from the teachings of Allah Ta’aala (and know that) Allah is all aware of their actions.

(Khutbaatul Ahkaam Pg 36/37)

ANNOUNCEMENT

Radio Islam Logo Competition

During the month of Ramadhaan we asked our listeners to assist with our re-branding process. In order to motivate submissions, a competition was held with an Umrah ticket as a prize where the submission that most impressed the judges would be declared the winner.

Due to the high number of entries and the excellent quality of many submissions, the judging process is taking longer then initially anticipated.

Due to the important nature of a logo, we would prefer to conclude this matter carefully.

We request your patience in this regard.

DUA (PRAYER)

It has been mentioned in some narrations that if you want to have the strongest memory , then recite the following Dua before you start learning the Quraan or and other material that you would like to memorise or remember...

Bismillahi Wa Subhanaalahi wa laa ilaaha illalahi wal lahu Akbar wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billahil Aliyyil Atheem A’dada kulla harfin wa yuktabu abadal aabideen wa dahrad daahireen wa sallalahu ala sayyidina Muhammadin wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim

In the name of Allah, Allah is pure, there is no diety except Allah, Allah is the greatest, there is no power or might except with Allah, The Exalted the Mighty. We utter the words of praise and glorification for Allah to the extent of every letter of all books and people will continue to write to eternity. We thereafter send salutation and peace upon our Master Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, his family and companions.

RECIPE
An easy recipe for HALWA

Boil 1litre milk - make a paste of 4level tsp custard and 2 level tsps ghas - add to milk. Allow to cook for a while on low to medium heat when nearly done - make a paste of 4tablespoons Klim powder and add to milk - keep stirring as it will start sticking to the container - remove from heat and add 1tin nestle cream and condensed milk to sweeten - allow to set - sprinkle khus khus and nuts saffron. Refrigerate.
COOKING TIP

Tips For Gravies:

* Always use ghee or vanaspathi with or instead of oil, which gives a good flavour to the gravy. If oil alone is used, it does not get separated easily from the ground mixture, as ghee separates from it.
* Fry the ground masala in reduced flame, so that it retains its colour and taste.
* Little plain sugar or caramelised sugar added to the gravy makes it tasty.
* When tomatoes are not in season, tomato ketchup or sauce can be successfully used in the gravies.
* To retain colour in the gravy always use ripe red tomatoes. Discard green portions if any.
* Good variety chillies and chilli powder also gives colour to the gravy. As far as possible try to use long variety red chillies. Dry it under sun for few days and powder coarsely at home. Always the coarse powder gives good taste in gravies and pickles.
* While using ginger and garlic paste in curries, always use garlic at 60% ratio and ginger at 40% as ginger is very strong and may make your dish sharp and pungent.

THE SMILE

Two women came before wise King Solomon, dragging between them a young man in a three-piece suit.

"This young lawyer agreed to marry my daughter," said one..."No! He agreed to marry MY daughter," said the other. And so they haggled before the King until he called for silence.

"Bring me my biggest sword," said Solomon, "and I shall hew the young attorney in half. Each of you shall receive a half.""Sounds good to me," said the first lady. But the other woman said, "Oh Sire, do not spill innocent blood. Let the other woman's daughter marry him.

"The wise king did not hesitate a moment. He proclaimed, "The attorney must marry the first lady's daughter." "But she was willing to hew him in two!" exclaimed the king's court.

"Indeed," said wise King Solomon...

"That shows she is the TRUE mother- in-law."
