BE A MUSLIM PAR EXCELLENCE

By Raeesa Patel - Radio Islam Programming

One of the cornerstones of our Islamic teachings is derived from the Hadith Jibraeel where Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, in the midst of his companions (RA), was visited by Jibraeel (AS). This meeting occurred towards the end of the Prophethood with the intention of summarising the core teachings of Deen for all Muslims.

One of the question asked by the angel (AS) was, “What is Ihsaan?” to which Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam replied, “it is to worship Allah as if you are seeing Him. For though you see Him not, verily He is seeing you.”

Of all the teachings of Islam, Ihsaan seems to be the forgotten treasure. Ihsaan is derived from حسن which means “the beauty that is seen”. The very idea of Ihsaan is linked to the concept that human beings are beings that recognise beauty. Something within our build up innately recognises things that are beautiful. Our eyes single out beautiful things in our surroundings; things that make us smile; that create feelings of warmth within us.

As human beings, we subconsciously realise the truth of Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam’s words that “Allah is beautiful” [Sahih Muslim] and so we find ourselves inextricably drawn towards that which takes our breath away.

But it is not enough: as believers, not only do we need to make Qadr of the majesties Allah has surrounded us with, we also need to produce beauty of our own. In everything that we do, say or create, that level of excellence must be there. read more

Paying For It Joke

When a friend received a traffic ticket, he promptly sent the policeman an orchid. Asked why, he explained: "I figure that when he gets the orchid, he will give it to his wife, who will make him take her out for the evening to show it off - and that will probably cost him more than I have to pay for the ticket he gave me."
