Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "The best of fasting after Ramadhaan is fasting Allah's month of Muharram." (Muslim)

Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "This fast (of Aashura) is a compensation for the (minor) sins of the past year." (Muslim)

Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "One who generously spends on his family on the day of Aashura, Allah will increase (his provision) for the whole year." (Baihaqi)

Sayyadian Abdullah Ibn Abbas (Radhiyallahu-Anhu) said: "When Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alayhi-Wasallam) observed the fast of the day of Aashura and ordered (his Companions) to fast, they said: `O Rasulullah! It is a day revered (glorified) by the Jews and Christians.' Thereupon Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: "The coming year, if Allah wills (I remain alive), I will for surely fast on the ninth (also) (an additional day)." (Muslim)

"When the Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), came to Madinah, he fasted on the day of Aashura and directed the people to fast. But when the fasts of Ramadhaan were made obligatory, the obligation of fasting was confined to Ramadhaan and the obligatory nature of the fast of Aashura was abandoned. Whoever so desires should fast on it and any other who so likes can avoid fasting on it." (Sunan Abu Dawood)

1 packet ready washed lettuce
2 cups pineapple - cubed
2 cups cucumber - cubed
2 cups of 3 colour peppers mixed - cut in strips
Feta cheese - cut in squares or strips

Lay lettuce on platter following with the pineapple, cucumber, peppers & feta cheese.

In a saucepan:
2 tbslp olive oil
½ cup badam - sliced
½ cup dates - cut lengthwise
½ cup sesame seeds

Braise the above ingredients until golden brown then add:
¼ tsp chilli powder
¼ tsp salt

Pour the above over salad.

Dressing:
¼ cup trim
1 tblsp mustard sauce
½ tsp brown sugar
½ tsp olive oil
¼ cup of any salad dressing of your choice

Mix in blender pour over the salad & munch away

HIDING SPOT

Luke, our venturesome 14-month-old son, was at my mother-in-law’s house. He was playing with her car keys when the phone rang. After hanging up, my mother-in-law realized that Luke had put the keys down someplace, but she couldn’t find them anywhere. Thinking quickly, she gave him another set of keys.

As she pretended not to look, Luke toddled around the corner and into her bedroom. Then she watched as he carefully placed the second set of keys under her bed—right next to the original car keys.
