THANKFULNESS AND THE MERIT OF THE THANKFUL

His eminence Sheikh Saleh ibn Abdullah Ibn Humaid – may Allah protect him– delivered last Friday’s Khutbah titled “Thankfulness and the Merit of the Thankful” in which he talked about the merits of thankfulness and said that it belongs to the heart, and therefore every Muslim has to thank Allah for better and for worse. He mentioned the ways of thanking Allah and the manifestations thereof and cited some examples of thankful prophets and messengers, may Allah’s Salat and Blessing be upon them all.

Praise be to Allah! Praise be to Allah, the Protector, the One Worthy of all Praise, Owner of the Throne, the Glorious, Doer of whatsoever He wills. Exalted be His Name! I thank Him; He promised the thankful more of His bounties, and I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah with no associate –a testimony of faithfulness and Tawhid (oneness of Allah). read more

Allah The Exalted said with respect to the story of the two men: "Why do you not, when you enter into your garded say:

"Mã shã'a 'allãhu lã quwwata 'illã bil-lãhi". (Al-Kahf (#18) V. 39.)

'Allah's Will [be done]! There is no strength but in Allah!

It is reported about the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam that if he saw something he liked he would say:

"Al-hamdu lil-lãhi 'allathee bini`matihi tatimmus-sãlihãtu."

"All praise is to Allah, by the Grace of Whom all good things are fulfilled."

and if he saw something he disliked he would say:

"Al-hamdu lil-lãhi 'alã kulli hãlin".

"All praise is to Allah upon every circumstance."

1 dessertspoon red ginger garlic masala
½ dessertspoon red coarse dry chillies
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 dessertspoon fine dhania
1 tsp fine jeero
1 dessertspoon fine mustard
1 tsp arad
2 tsp fine salt
2 dessertspoons yoghurt
2 dessertspoons saffron water – a few strands saffron boiled in water
Juice of 1 lemon, mix with a little white vinegar
1 chicken
1 dessertspoon oil or ghee
Spice a few elachi, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and peppercorns

METHOD:
Mix all the ingredients together and make a paste. Slit chicken. Apply paste all over the chicken and marinate overnight. Heat ghee or oil in a pot. Add spices. Add chicken and cook on medium heat. Cook chicken until meat is tender. Increase temperature and allow to become brown.

On a slow day with few customers, a clerk at a telegram office looks down from her counter and sees a dog waiting in line. "Oh, aren't you cute?" she says. "What would you like me to put on your telegram?"

"Bow wow wow, Bow wow wow," the dog replies. The clerk says in a cutesy voice, "But you can add another 'Bow wow wow' for the same price."

The dog responds, "Now wouldn't that sound a little silly?"
