Ibn Rushd (Averroes)

Abū 'l-Walīd Muammad ibn Amad ibn Rushd (Arabic: أبو الوليد محمد بن احمد بن رشد‎), better known as Ibn Rushd (Arabic: ابن رشد‎), and in European literature as Averroes (1126 – 1198), was an Andalusian Muslim polymath; a master of Islamic philosophy, Islamic theology, Maliki law and jurisprudence, logic, psychology, politics, Arabic sound theory, and the sciences of medicine, astronomy, geography, mathematics, physics and celestial mechanics. He was born in Córdoba, Al Andalus, modern-day Spain, and died in Marrakesh, modern-day Morocco. His school of philosophy is known as Averroism. He has been described by some as the founding father of secular thought in Western Europe and "one of the spiritual fathers of Europe," although other scholars oppose such claims.

His name is also seen as Averroës, Averroès or Averrhoës, indicating that the "o" and the "e" form separate syllables. Averroes is a Latinate distortion of the actual Arab name Ibn Rushd. read more

500g chicken fillet – cut into strips
2 tsp crushed garlic
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp crushed red chillies
1 tsp chicken spice
½ tsp black pepper
1 ½ tblsp lemon juice
2 tblp mayonnaise

Salt to taste Marinate chicken strips and leave for an hour or so. Thereafter cook in butter/ghee till done. Leave aside. Then. Peel 3 large potatoes and cut into chips and fry until crisp. In an oven Pyrex, toss chips with salt, chilli powder and vinegar. Add in chicken and toss well. You may now add any sauce/ mayonnaise that you wish, or leave like that. Garnish with green pepper and onion slices.
Sprinkle cheese and bake in a pre-heated oven for 10 minutes.
