ZAKAH: SOME REASONS AND RULINGS

His Eminence Sheikh Ali ibn Abdur-Rahman Al-Hudhaifi, may Allah preserve him, delivered the Friday khutbah entitled, “Zakah: Some Reasons and Rulings”, in which he talked about Zakah (obligatory charity) and some of the reasons for which it has been prescribed. Then he briefly pointed out the most important rulings relating to Zakah and mentioned some of the virtues of the month of Ramadan, stressing that a Muslim must pay attention to this month and increase his good deeds in it.

O Muslims!
Know that the teachings of this true religion are all based on three foundations, namely, doing good to oneself, doing good to others, and refraining from causing harm and evil to them. One can do good to oneself by performing different acts of worship, while doing good to others is realized through good deeds of various kinds. Allah, Exalted be He, says:

"... and do good. Truly, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers)." (Al-Baqarah: 195). read more

Ingredients
500g self raising flour
60g butter
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp dried parsley
Buttermilk beaten

Method:
Rub butter into dry ingredients and form dough with buttermilk. Roll out into 5mm thickness and cut out into rounds with a scone cutter. Place on greased baking sheet and bake in 180c preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and when cool put pizza filling of choice. Top with grated cheese.

THE MOST ANNOYING ENGLISH PHRASES

"Thanks in advance": This demeaning management phrase, often accompanying some unwanted assignment, is the polite corporate way of saying, "You'd better do this terrible thing or I'll eat your paycheque."

Instead: Cut to the chase with, "I know you don't want to do this... in advance."

"With all due respect": Almost always coupled with an insult or unsolicited advice, this phrase is a smarmier way to say, "Prepare to be disrespected." Examples include: "With all due respect, you're fired."

Instead: Eliminate the preamble. If you're going to say something that others might find offensive, just say it or keep quiet.
