* Female inmates go on hunger strike at Bahraini jail over restrictions on visits - Female inmates at a prison in Bahrain have gone on open-end hunger strike in protest at the recent restrictions imposed on family visits there.

* Iranian bicyclist dies after getting hit by car on Qazvin-Karaj Highway - Former member of the Iran men’s national cycling team, Hamed Zhaleh, has been killed in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the highway linking the northwestern city of Qazvin to the industrial city of Karaj west of Tehran.

* Gunmen kill 2, kidnap police officers in southern Mexico - A gang of armed assailants have shot to death two men and apparently kidnapped four state police officers in Mexico's southern state of Guerrero.

* Cop and 'hitman' brother in court for double murder - Police officer Thulani Wiseman Madida appeared unfazed alongside his alleged hired hitman and brother, Xolani Julius Madida.

CHICKEN & VEGETABLE PALAU

2 cups of rice- boiled until nearly done.

500g chicken breast- cooked with:
Crushed garlic, salt, pepper, red chilles, crushed jeera, 1 tin sweetcorn.
*2 onions cut into rings.
*2 coloured peppers cut into rings.
*2 potatoes cut into rounds.
*2 tomatoes cut into rounds.

Method:

1. Fry each of asterisk marked ingredients separately in oil.
2. Make a seasoning of salt, pepper, chillies, thyme, mint, crushed jeera.
3. Place meat at the bottom of a casserole dish.
4. Layer each vegetable over this and sprinkle seasoning over each layer.
5. Spread rice over, and pour 2 Tbsp of melted ghee over the top, cover and steam palau in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes.

Computer Language

My husband, a computer-systems trouble-shooter, rode with me in my new car one afternoon. He had been working on a customer’s computer all morning and was still tense from the session.

When I stopped for a traffic light, I made sure to leave a safe distance from the stop line to keep oncoming drivers from hitting the car.

I couldn’t help but laugh when my husband impatiently waved at me to move the car forward while saying, "Scroll up, honey."
