Surah Al-Qamar 54: - (The Moon)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

(Now) are the disbelievers among you in a better position than all of them (the aforesaid punished people), or do you have immunity (recorded) in the sacred books? [43]
Or do they say,"We are a large group, well-defended."? [44]
Soon shall this 'large group' be defeated, and all will turn their backs. [45]
Rather the Hour (of judgment) is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour is more calamitous and more bitter. [46]
Surely the guilty ones are in error and madness. [47]
On the Day when they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, (it will be said to them,) 'Taste the touch of Hell." [48]
Verily, We have created everything according to (Our) predestination. [49]

COMMENTARY: ("Verily, We have created everything according to [Our] predestination..." 54:49). In the prepositional phrase 'Bi-Qadar', the word 'Qadar' literally denotes to 'measure' and to create something with a proper measure and proportion. It is possible for this literal sense of the word to apply in the current verse: Allah is the Supreme Sage Who created every species of the existent entity wisely with proper measurement - whether big or small, and in different shapes and sizes.

Having created, He maintains the structure of every individual in a very wise measurement: The fingers and toes are not equal in size; the lengths are different; the length and breadth of hands and legs are wisely structured; and their bones, muscles and skins are created flexible to stretch and contract. When we analyze every single part of our limbs and organs, we discern the wondrous vistas of Divine wisdom.

Marble Cake

Butter 180 grams
Vanilla essence 1 tsp
Caster Sugar 3/4 cup
Flour 1 1/2 cup
Baking powder 2 tsp
Milk 1/2 cup
Pink food coloring few drops
Cocoa 2 tbsp
Milk 1 tbsp
Dark chocolate 1 thin slab (optional)
Eggs 2

Method:
Lightly grease a cake pan and cover the base with grease paper. Beat butter, essence and caster sugar in small bowl with electric mixture until it is light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating in well. Transfer mixture to a large clean bowl and fold in sifted flour and milk in 2 batches. Divide mixture in three bowls. Tint mixture in three bowls. Tint mixture pink in bowl 1, mix well. Stir in cocoa and extra milk in bowl 2 and mix well. Leave the third mixture plain. Drop spoonfuls of each mixture into prepared pan. Run a knife through cake mixture for a marble effect. If desired slip in a slab of dark bitter chocolate in the center so it melts while baking. Bake in a moderate oven about 40 minutes before turning onto a wire rack to cool.

TRYING TO BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR

A woman is worried about an older woman, a widow, who lives in the apartment next door. She hasn't heard anything from her for a few days. So she tells her son, "I want you to go next door and see how, old Mrs. Pierpoint is doing."

A few minutes later the boy returns.
"Well, is she all right?" the mother asks.
"She is fine, but she's annoyed with you," he says.
"At me, whatever for?"

"Well," says her son, "Mrs. Pierpoint told me it's none of your business how old she is."
