THE MESSAGE
Nafs Mutmainnah to Nafs Mutazakkiyah
----------------------------------------

"If someone says something mean to you, just shrug it off and dismiss it in a friendly, laidback manner, and pray that Allah shall forgive them. When you get angry, remember Allah, and how short and worthless Life is to waste in being Angry. Remember that you can never have too many friends, but you can have few quality friends that help you fulfill the purpose of your creation (i.e live for Allah.)

When you're happy, try to share your happiness with others; thank Allah for that, and pray its continuation. When something bad or embarrassing happens to you, just think that it could always be worse, remember the reward of patience, and thank Allah that it's not worse than it is.

Never stop believing that you can win Allah's love and thus work for it. Then you can win the love of Allah's servants. Always love those who love Allah unconditionally. This way you will ensure that you live for Him, love for Him, and hate for Him (those who are enemies of Him). Find the righteous ways to express yourself, and if you think that what you are about to say shall cause no benefit, maintain silence (this is tough!!)

Every now and then, give yourself a break. Play sports, give time to your family, friends, but always remember Allah and watch that He is watching you. Pray for blessing to come to your enemies, and pray to Allah to Guide them to the right path. Smile to everyone, for your smile makes a big difference to him or her and you are rewarded. Forgive, forget and smile.

Tears are not for women only... tears are for all human beings with feelings remaining in them. Don't restrain your tears when remembering Allah. When people criticize your actions and effort, revise your actions and see if they please Allah or no. If they do, then ignore and remember how the prophet and the Sahaba were criticized, made fun of and even physically harmed, so have patience.

Don't let popularity go to your head, for it never lasts and you may lose from it more than gain.. "

DUA (PRAYER)
Whenever `Abdullãh bin 'Az-Zubayr RA would hear thunder he would stop talking, and say Subhãna 'allathee yusabbihur-ra`du bihamdihi, wal- malã'ikatu min kheefatihi Glory be to Allah Whom the thunder glorifies in Praise, and [so do] the Angels out of fear of him.

AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
Lion, Rats, Snake & the Honeycomb
Once a man saw in his dream, that a lion was chasing him. The man ran to a tree, climbed on to it and sat on a branch. He looked down and saw that the lion was still there waiting for him. The man then looked to his side where the branch he was sitting on was attached to the tree and saw that two rats were circling around and eating the branch. One rat was black and the other one was white. The branch would fall on the ground very soon.

The man then looked below again with fear and discovered that a big black snake had come and settled directly under him. The snake opened its mouth right under the man so that he will fall into it. The man then looked up to see if there was anything that he could hold on to. He saw another branch with a honeycomb. Drops of honey were falling from it. The man wanted to taste one of the drops. So, he put his tongue out and tasted one of the fallen drops of honey. The honey was amazing in taste. So, he wanted to taste another drop. As he did, he got lost into the sweetness of the honey.

Meanwhile, he forgot about the two rats eating his branch away, the lion on the ground and the snake that is sitting right under him. After a while, he woke up from his sleep. To get the meaning behind this dream, the man went to a pious scholar of Islam. The scholar said, the lion you saw is your death. It always chases you and goes wherever you go.

The two rats, one black and one white, are the night and the day. Black one is the night and the white one is the day. They circle around, coming one after another, to eat your time as they take you closer to death. The big black snake with a dark mouth is your grave. It's there, just waiting for you to fall into it. The honeycomb is this world and the sweet honey is the luxuries of this world. We like to taste a drop of the luxuries of this world but it's very sweet. Then we taste another drop and yet another.

Meanwhile, we get lost into it and we forget about our time, we forget about our death and we forget about our graves.

A THOUGHT
Learn to pick your battles. Ask yourself, "Will this matter one year from now? How about one month? One week? One day?"
If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance!

THE SMILE
Two storks are sitting in their nest - a father stork and baby stork. The baby stork is crying so the father stork is trying to calm him. "Don't worry, son. Your mother will come back. She's only bringing people babies and making them happy." The next night, it's father's turn to do the job. Mother and son are sitting in the nest, and the baby stork is crying again. The mother says, "Son, your father will be back as soon as possible, but now he's bringing joy to new mommies and daddies."

A few days later, the stork's parents are desperate because their son has been absent from the nest all night! Shortly before dawn, he returns and the parents ask him where he's been all night.

The baby stork says, "Nowhere. Just scaring the hell out of college students!"
