THE MESSAGE
Debt-busting habits

By Jennifer Openshaw

---------------------------
We all need to take some bad-tasting medicine for getting – and staying - out of debt. As the expression goes, when you're in a hole, stop digging. ut it's not as easy as it sounds. First, it takes an understanding of the problem and its causes. Then it takes some committed behaviour from you and family members to change. read more

DUA (PRAYER)
AT A TIME WHEN ILLNESS BECOMES SEVERE AND ONE IS DISGUSTED WITH LIFE

ALLAHUMMA AHYINEE MAA KAANATIL HAYAAT KHAYRAN LEE WA TAWAFFANEE ITHAA KAANATIL WAFAAT KHAYRAN LEE.

“O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me and grant me death when death is better for me.”

AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
ALLAH IS ALWAYS WITH US

One busy Saturday morning, Abdullah went shopping with his parents. The store they went was full of people carrying baskets and pushing trolleys. It was also very, very noisy.
“Stay close to us Abdullah,” his mother said. “I don’t want you to get lost.”

Abdullah tried to stay close to his parents as he didn’t want to get lost. Then he saw something that made him forget everything else. There, in the toy section was a wonderful set of toy cars. There were cars in different colours and shapes. Abdullah loved cars. He loved racing them and playing with them. There was a bright red car on the self that he liked, it looked just liked the one his friend had.

He turned around to show his mother the cars but… she wasn’t there. Neither was his father. They can’t be gone far, he thought to himself. So, he walked a little more thinking he would find them but he couldn’t see his parents anywhere. Where could they be?

The more he walked, the more lost he became. He was so little and the people around him were so tall. He kept getting pushed around as people walked with their baskets and pushed their large trolleys. How would he ever be able to find his parents amongst so many people?

By now Abdullah had become very frightened. I am all alone, he thought to himself. How will I get home? He wondered. Big tears were falling from his eyes. He sat down in a corner and cried. He cried because he was scared of being alone. He cried because he wanted his mother. He wished that he remembered to stay close to her.

A lady saw him crying and stopped. “Are you lost?” she asked him. Abdullah couldn’t answer her as he was crying so much. Then, he heard something wonderful. It was his mother’s voice. “Abdullah”, she said, “we’ve been looking all over for you.”

Abdullah hugged his mother. “I was so scared,” he cried. “I was all alone.”

“Oh Abdullah, don’t you know that you are never alone?” his mother asked. “How can any of us ever be alone when Allah is with us every minute of every day? Whenever we feel scared or even a little sad, we should always remember to make Dua to Allah Ta’aala. Allah’s help is always there. Mummies and Daddies can’t be there all the time but Allah Ta’aala will always be there.”

Abdullah began to feel better. If Allah Ta’aala is always with him then Allah will always be there to help him, guide him and protect him. Each of us should remember that lesson too. None of us is ever alone. At every moment of every day, Allah Ta’aala is with us and Allah Ta’aala will always be with us.

POEM
In response to misguided surrealism
Blind of the reality beyond the surreal and corporeal
Hell-bent on portraying peace as war
Caricaturing prophets as monsters
I thought of the most innovative
Militant and yet wise mechanism
I could muster to register my protest
At the denigration of the prefect of personalities
But then I remembered the spirit that moved the unlettered
To read and recite the truth inscribed in his heart
Is the same eternal force that
Walked the son of man on the sea &
Thus it dawned on me
My words and acts of protest
Might be an expression of my love
But I will be at fault to think it is possible
For the personality of the epitome of human excellence
To be harmed in any way
By ink and charcoal rubbish disguised as artistic expression

A THOUGHT
Religious sciences, which are the knowledge of the path to the hereafter, are comprehended through the maturity of the intellect: clear understanding and clear intellect are the highest attributes of man, because through the intellect the responsibility of Allah’s trust is accepted, and through it man can enjoy the closeness to Allah.

THE SMILE
A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley, when he spotted a world-famous heart surgeon in his shop. The heart surgeon was waiting for the service manager to come take a look at his bike.

The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc can I ask you a question?" The famous surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle.

The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I also can open it up, take valves out, fix'em, put in new parts and when I finish this will work just like a new one. So how come I get a pittance and you get the really big money, when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic, "Try doing it while it's running!
