THE STORY

THE 1000 MIRRORS
-------------------
A very long time ago in a small, far away village, there was place known as the House of
1000 Mirrors.

A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house.

He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often."

In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door.

When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, "That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."

All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?

The Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: 'A believer is a mirror to another believer. A believer is a brother to another believer. He saves him from losses. He safeguards his interests in his absence.' [ABU DAWUD]

SUNNAH (PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD SAW)
It is Sunnah to treat an illness with Kalunji (black seed) and honey. (Bukhari-chapter on medicine) Rasulullah Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said that Allah has placed cure in these two things. There are many Ahadith narrated in praise of Kalunji and honey.

NEWS

A man was shot dead after he drove a tractor into a bus and a car in Jerusalem, overturning the vehicles with passengers on board. At least 30 people are reported to be injured.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia says that the current oil price was cheap compared to prices of alternative energy products available in the world and called upon people in consuming countries to adapt with rising oil prices. “We have nothing to do with the current sharp increase in oil prices,” the king said in a wide-ranging interview with Kuwait’s Assiyassah Arabic newspaper, and asked consuming countries to reduce tax to cut prices. “Consuming countries should reduce taxes of petroleum products if they really wanted to soften the burden on consumers,” he said.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela is to be removed from U.S. terrorism watch lists under a bill President Bush signed yesterday.

Another stabbing has taken place within the ANC. An ANC member was stabbed several times by some of the suspended members of the party in Vryburg in North West.

Foreign nationals displaced by the recent spate of xenophobic attacks will receive temporary identity documents. The department of home Affairs says this will take place next week.

A THOUGHT

A BLESSING
------------
Allaah is the One I ask and for Whose reply I hope: that He is benevolent to the brother in this life and the hereafter, that He brings about benefit by him and makes him blessed wherever he may be. Verily the blessing of a man lies in his teaching of goodness wherever he may be and his giving of advice to everyone he meets. Allaah, the Exalted said, informing about al-Maseeh (i.e., Jesus) (.): And He made me blessed wherever I may be. [Soorah Maryam (19):31].

Meaning, A teacher of goodness, a caller to Allaah, one who reminds (others) of Him and who exhorts them to His obedience.. So this is from the blessing of a man.

THE SMILE

THE STRONG WORD
----------------------
The manager of a clothing shop realized it was time to give one of her sales clerks a 'pep talk'. "Jane, your figures are well below any of our other salespeople's. In fact, unless you can improve your sales record soon, I'm afraid I'll have to let you go."

"I'm sorry, Ma'am," said a humbled Jane. "Can you give me any advice on how to do better?"

"Well, there is an old trick I can tell you about. It sounds silly, but it's worked for me in the past. Get hold of a dictionary and go through it until you come to a word that has particular power for you. Memorize it, work it into your sales pitch whenever it seems appropriate, and you'll be amazed at the results."

Sure enough, Jane's sales figures went way up, and at the end of the month, the manager called her in again and congratulated her. "Did you try my little trick?" she asked.

Jane nodded. "It took me a whole weekend to find the right word, but I did:... 'Fantastic.'"

"'Fantastic.' What a good word," said the manager encouragingly. "How have you been using it?"

"Well, my first customer on Monday was a woman who told me her little girl had just been accepted at the most exclusive prep school in the city. I said, 'Fantastic.' She went on to tell me how her daughter always got straight A's and was the most popular girl in her class, I said 'Fantastic' and she bought $300 worth of clothing.

My next customer said she needed a formal dress for the organization she was running. I said 'Fantastic.' She went on to tell she had the best position of anyone on the committee and her husband makes the most money. I said 'Fantastic' and she not only bought the designer gown, but hundreds of dollars of other merchandise.

It's been like that all week: the customers keep boasting, I keep saying 'Fantastic', and they keep buying."

"Excellent work, Jane," complimented her boss. "Just as a point of interest, what did you used to say to customers before you discovered your power word?"

Jane shrugged. "I used to say, 'Who gives a damn?'"
