THE STORY

MALEK BIN DINAAR and his LICENTIOUS NEIGHBOUR
-----------------------------------------------------
There was a certain youth living in Malek’s RA neighbourhood who was extremely depraved and dissolute in his ways. Malek Bin Dinaar RA was constantly pained on account of his bad behaviour, but he endured patiently waiting for someone else to speak. To be brief, in due course others came forward to complain about the young man.

Malek bin Dinaar RA then arose and went to him to bid him to mend his ways. The youth reacted in a very headstrong and overbearing manner.

“I am the Sultan’s favourite,” he told Malek bin Dinaar RA. “No one has the power to check me or restrain me from doing as I please.”

“I will talk to the Sultan,” Malek threatened.

“The Sultan will never swerve from his approval of me,” the youth retorted. “Whatever I do, he will approve.”

“Well, if the Sultan cannot do anything,” Malek proceeded, “I will tell the All-merciful.” And he pointed towards the heaven.

“Ha,” the youth replied. “He is too generous to take me to task.”

This floored Malek bin Dinaar RA, and he left him. Some days went  by, and the youth’s depravity surpassed all bounds. People came again to complain. Malek RA rose up to rebuke him; but on the way he heard a voice.

“Keep your hands off My friend!”

Amazed, Malek RA went to the youth.

“What has happened,” the youth demanded on seeing him, “that you have come a second time?”

“I have not come this time to chide you,” Malek answered. “I have come simply to inform you that I heard such a voice.”

“Ah,” the youth exclaimed. “Since things are like that, I will dedicate my palace wholly to His (Allah's) service. I care nothing for all my possessions.”

So saying, he cast everything aside and set out to wander the world.

Malek bin Dinaar RA relates that after a certain time he saw the youth in Makkah Mukarramah, utterly destitute and at his last breath.

“He is my friend,” he gasped. “I went to see my friend.” And with that he passed away.

MORAL: Do not judge others!!!

SUNNAH (PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD SAW)

The child should be taught how to perform Salaah and the other aspects of Deen when he reaches the age of seven years. In order to inculcate the habit of Salaah, the child should be admonished if he is negligent in its performance when he reaches the age of ten years. He should be punished if the need arises. (Mishkaat - Vol.1, pg.58)

Note: Nowadays children are being spoilt with love and affection while the parents console themselves by saying that the child will behave when he grows up. One should remember that if the foundation is not straight, the building will also be crooked. Therefore it is necessary to inculcate good character into the child from the very beginning so that one may not regret later.

Officers working for the Afghan security forces are switching sides and joining the Taliban. Sulieman Ameri and his 16 men were until a month ago serving the Afghan government as police patrolling the border with Iran. Now they answer to the Taliban and their goal is to drive all foreign troops out of Afghanistan. They say they are joining the Taliban because of anti-Muslim behaviour by international soldiers.

Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan's president, is on his first official visit to China with a view to securing more Chinese investments for his country. Zardari's four-day trip to China, which concludes on Friday, demonstrates Pakistan's willingness to raise the "time-tested relationship to new heights", Pakistan's foreign affairs ministry said in a statement. Zardari, who became president last month, is expected to reach an agreement with Beijing which will encourage Chinese investment, the statement said.

As the G7 finance Ministers thrash out a rescue plan for the global financial crisis, the world's fastest emerging economies, India, Brazil and South Africa want to see change in the regulatory system to protect poor nations. The three countries, known as IBSA are meeting in India where the financial crisis will be high on tomorrow's summit agenda.

Former Gauteng Premier, Mbhazima Shilowa, has tendered his resignation from the ANC. Shilowa resigned as Gauteng premier two weeks ago saying he was not in favour of how the ANC handled former president Thabo Mbeki, as his main reason. Shilowa said he could not, with conviction, publicly defend or explain the ruling party's decision to recall Mbeki. Shilowa is expected to also announce that he aims to support former ANC chairperson, Mosiuoa Lekota's anticipated breakaway party.

To Assemble - Grease and oven proof dish well. Place a layer of lasagne sheets on the base of the dish. Spread the cooked mince over the sheets, then spread some sauce over the meat. HEALTH TIPs

The rupture of a vein is a cause of disease and to give up dinner at night is the cause of old age. A certain physician said to his son: "Do not go out of the house without eating food in the morning as there is patience in it and it removes thirst and greed for food."

A THOUGHT

IN PURSUIT
----------
Tear not thy plumage off it cannot be replaced. Disfigure not thy face in wantonness, O fair one! That face which is bright as the forenoon sun, to disfigure it is a grievous sin. 'Twere paganism to mar such a face as thine! The moon itself would weep to lose sight of it! Knowest thou not the beauty of thine own face? Quit this temper that leads thee to war with thyself! It is the claws of thine own foolish thoughts that in spite wound the face of thy quiet soul.

Know such thoughts to be claws fraught with poison, which score deep wounds on the face of thy soul. Rend not thy plumage off, but avert thy heart from it for hostility between them is the law of this [jihad]. Were there no hostility, that [striving] would be impossible. Hadst thou no lust, obedience to the law could not be. Hadst thou no concupiscence there could be no abstinence. Where no antagonist, what need is there of armies?

LONGEVITY
------------
Little BILLY was sitting on a park bench munching on one candy bar after another. After the 6th one, a man on the bench across from him said, "Son, you know eating all that candy isn't good for you. It will give you acne, rot your teeth, and make you fat."

Little BILLY replied, "My grandfather lived to be 107 years old."
"Oh?" replied the man. "Did your grandfather eat 6 candy bars at a time?"
"No" replied Little Billy, "he minded his own business!!"
