ALLAH'S MERCY UPON THE CREATION

All praise is due to Allaah. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, his household and companions.

Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah and take lessons from those who have gone before you. They have been taken away by death and you will certainly follow them. Allaah says, “Have they not travelled through the land, and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear? Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.” (Al-Hajj 22:46)

Dear Muslims! Mankind are in need of mercy of the Merciful Lord as they are in need of love and compassion. They are in need of a forbearing one who can tolerate their ignorance and weakness. They are in need of a big heart that can give and not take, and that can alleviate their distress and sorrow and not add to it.

Indeed, apathy relegates man to the position of animal or makes him look like a lifeless tool or stone. Man is distinguished from other things by his heart and soul and not only by his flesh and bone. It is by soul and heart that he feels, reacts, shows compassion and feels pains. Mercy is a perfect quality in the human nature that makes man feel the pain of others and makes him try to remove that pain, as it makes him overlook people’s faults, wish for their guidance and excuse them. Compassion is a manifestation of a perfect nature and good manners that makes man act righteously and sees him through the crises. The Messenger of Allaah said, “Allaah makes mercy one hundred parts. He revealed a part thereof to the earth. It is by this single part that the creatures show compassion among themselves, that is why you see an animal raises up its hoof so as not to harm its young.” read more

A new UN report released says Israel is guilty of gross war crimes in Gaza. in one of the incidences, 19 people were killed when apartheid Israel shelled the village of Bait Hanun. Arch Bishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu on his visit to the Gaza recently investigated the incident and presented his findings to the UN.

The charges French arms company Thint faced with ANC President Jacob Zuma will be provisionally withdrawn by the NPA. Thint had faced one count of racketeering, two of corruption and one of money laundering in the case in which it is accused of paying Zuma a bribe in return for protection in probes into alleged irregularities in a multi-million rand arms deal.

There has been a drop in the crime rate for the 2007/08 year. Incidents of murder, attempted murder and rape have dropped according to the police's 2007/08 annual report tabled in Parliament. The report covers the period from April 2007 to March this year. However, the number of truck hijackings and robberies at business premises increased significantly in the period under review.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Aziz Pahad, says it is absolutely vital that an agreement is speedily reached in assigning Ministers to portfolios in Zimbabwe. Pahad says he does not believe there is any deliberate attempt to scupper the negotiations at this stage.

Two South Africans held hostages by Nigerian militants have been released to the Nigerian authorities. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, confirmed that the two who were rescued by MEND have been released unharmed. The two, who worked as divers on offshore oil rigs, were handed over to the Nigerian authorities yesterday afternoon

SAUCE
125 ml milk - 60 ml caramel brown sugar (50 g) - 60 g butter.

Preheat oven to 180 degree c. Place dates and water in a sauce pan and bring to the boil. Remove from heat and leave to stand for about 5 minutes. Cream butter and castor sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. Fold with dates and milk into egg mixture. Spoon in an ovenproof dish and bake for plus minus 50 minutes.

For sauce: Place the milk, brown sugar and butter in a saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the pudding from the oven and pour the sauce over top of pudding.
