THE EVILS OF PRIDE AND VANITY
All praise is due to Allah Ta'aala, the creator, the protector, the fashioner, the powerful, the mighty, the exalted, the high whose greatness cannot be impaired by any denouncer. Allah is the omnipotent before whom every tyrant is submissive and abject.
His might and loftiness have broken the stand of the Persian Emperors and His sublimity and grandeur diminished Caesarian Powers. Majesty and magnificence are His garments. He who challenges Him in these two qualities is inflicted by Him with a sickness he will never be able to cure.
His magnificence is most high and His attributes are sanctified. I bear witness that there is non worthy of worship except Allah alone, who has no partner. I also bear witness that our master and leader, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is His servant and messenger upon whom has been revealed the spreading brilliance (i.e. The Quraan) so that the corners of the world be illuminated by its brilliance and light.
May Allah's peace and blessings be in abundance upon Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam and His illustrious companions who were the beloved and friends of Allah Ta'aala. They were also His chosen and selected ones.
Verily vanity and pride are two destructive sicknesses which are detested and abhorred by Allah. Pride and vainglorious persons are indeed inflicted with sickness. Allah Ta'aala states in the Holy Quraan that verily He does not love the arrogant and the boastful.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam states: "He who is humble for the sake of Allah, will regard himself as insignificant whereas in the eyes of the people he will hold honour, while he who is proud, Allah Ta'aala humiliates him to such an extent that he is worthless and insignificant in the eyes of people although he regards himself as a great person. Such a persons status is even lower to them than the status of a dog or a pig." (Baihaqi)
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has also stated: "Destructive things are passions which are followed, greed which is ingrained and the worst of these attributes is a person's vanity regarding himself." (Baihaqi)
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has also stated: "The person who has even an iota of pride will not enter Paradise." A person then questioned concerning a person who loves good (and neat) clothes and shoes. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam thereupon answered: "Allah Ta'aala is most beautiful and He loves beauty. Pride relates to rejecting the truth and despising people." (Muslim)
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has also said: When you see greed being followed, passions being obeyed, worldly affairs given preference, every person fascinated by his opinion, (evil) affairs which you have no ability to change, then engage yourself in the rectification of your ownself – for before you are days of patience, the similitude of which is as equivalent to holding burning embers. He who is steadfast in deeds in those days will be rewarded th the extent of fifty men doing the same deed." (Tirmizi, Ibn Majah)
I seek protection with Allah from the accursed Shaytaan
"And to Allah belongs majesty in the heavens and the earth. He is mighty, wise."

When a Muslim brother extends physicalor financial assistance, one should express one's appreciation by saying:
"Baarakallahu fi ahlika wa maalika"
May Allah bless you in your family and wealth.
When recovering debt from a debtor, appreciation should be expressed by saying:
"Wa fallahu bika"

1 packet ready made vegetable skewers with fresh rosemary or make up your own by threading chunks of fresh vegetables onto a wooden skewer.
Marinade
175ml olive oil - 15ml harissa paste - 15ml caraway seeds - Generous pinch
of cumin and turmeric - 1-2 cloves of garlic.
Place vegetable skewers in dish big enough to have them in a single layer. Combine the marinade ingredients pour over vegetable kebabs and rub over kebabs. Leave for at least one hour to marinate. Just before eating place over coals or grill under a pre- heated grill until brown and cooked through. Serve immediately.
* To check how fresh an egg is, put it into a bowl of water and if it sinks it is fresh. It if floats, it is no good.
* To substitute honey for sugar in recipes, start by substituting up to half of the sugar called for. With a little experimentation, honey can replace all the sugar in some recipes.
