KHUTBAH (SERMON)

THE KHUTBAH (SERMON) OF NIKAAH

The following Khutbah is read out at the time of Nikah…

All praises are for Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgivness. We seek His protection against the mischief of our souls and the evil effects of our bad deeds. One whom Allah guides, none can lead him astray and one whom He misguides none can guide him.

I testify that there is non worthy of worship besides Allah; He is one, without a partner; and I testify that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam is His servant and messenger. Allah has sent him with the true religion before the approach of the Hour (Qiyaamat) as a harbinger of glad tidings and a warner. Whoever obeys Allah and His messenger, he is guided aright and whoever disobeys Them, he has harmed non but himself and has caused no harm to Allah at all.

We beg Allah to make us amongst those who obey him and His messenger and to include us among those who obey that which pleases Him and abstain from that which causes His wrath. We believe in Him and him do we obey.

O people, fear your Rabb who created you from a single person and created out of it his mate and scattered from them countless man and woman. Fear Allah through whom you demand your mutual rights; and be heedful of the wombs for Allah is always watching over you.

O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except as Muslims. O you who believe, fear Allah and make your utterance straight so that He may make your conduct whole and sound, and forgive you your sins. He who obeys Allah and his messenger has attained a great victory. (Al Hisnul Haseen Pg 139)

DUA (PRAYER)

DUAA FOR ONE'S DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW AFTER THE NIKAH

After the Nikah of Fatima Radiyallahu Anhaa (Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam's daughter) and Ali Radiyallahu Anhu, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam proceeded to their home and asked for some water. Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam took a sip and then returned it in the container. He then asked Her to come near and sprinkled some water on Her chest and face and recited the following Duaa…

"Allahumma U'eethuhaa bika wa dhurriy yatuhaa minash Shaytaanir Raajeem"

O Allah I place her and her progeny against the accursed Shaytaan.

N.B. In the case of the son-in-law, "U'eethuhu" should be said in place of "U'eethuhaa" and "dhurriy yatuhu" in place of "dhurriy yatuhaa"

Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam then asked her to turn around. He recited the same Duaa and blew in the remaining water which He again sprinkled on her back. Thereafter, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam asked Ali Radiyallahu Anhu to bring some water. Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam recited the same Duaa, took a sip of the water, returned it in the cup and sprinkled it on his head and chest. Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam then asked him to turn around, recited the same Duaa, returned it in the cup and sprinkled water between Ali Radiyallahu Anhu's two shoulders. Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam then told him "Now go to your wife".

After the Nikah and before saying farewell to one's daughter, the above Duaa should be recited by the father and blown into a cup of water. The water should then be sprinkled on her chest head and back. The same should be done for the son-in-law with another cup of water. It is not necessary to take a sip and return it into the cup. The action of taking a sip was done because of the immense blessings that was attached to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam. (Al Hisnul Haseen Pg 140,141)

THE SMILE (True Stories)

WHILE SOME ARE TRYING EVERYTHING TO ATTAIN FREEDOM…

05/07/11 - In possibly one of the most creative yet uncomfortable ways to escape from prison, a half-naked Mexican prisoner was recently caught curled up in a visitors suitcase. Juan Ramirez Tijerina was caught at a prison in Chetumal, Mexico, proving his flexibility in front of guards who were bewildered to say the very least. Having been arrested in 2007, Tijerina is serving a 20 year sentence for possession of illegal weapons, and now awaits further charges alongside his accomplice, Maria del Mar Arjona, following their attempt to break free. Cue Queen! Police spokesman and witness, Gerado Campos, mentioned that Arjona looked nervous as she fled. According to one source, she tried to convince officers that the suitcase contained dirty laundry.

OTHERS MIGHT UNKNOWINGLY WALK INTO PRISON…

30/06/11 - When Heidi Withers went to meet and stay with her future husband's (Freddie's) step-mother, she never expected it to be easy. She did not expect a vitriolic email from mother-in-law to be Carolyn Bourne, criticizing her "poor etiquette". Heidi was so stunned after reading the email she forwarded it to her friends and it soon went viral appearing on blogs and websites around the world. Heidi still wants to marry Freddie despite his step-mother's abusive email towards her. Below is a full text of the email sent:

"It is high time someone explained to you about good manners. Yours are obvious by their absence and I feel sorry for you. Unfortunately for Freddie, he has fallen in love with you and Freddie being Freddie, I gather it is not easy to reason with him or yet encourage him to consider how he might be able to help you. It may just be possible to get through to you though. I do hope so. If you want to be accepted by the wider Bourne family I suggest you take some guidance from experts with utmost haste. There are plenty of finishing schools around. Please, for your own good, for Freddie's sake and for your future involvement with the Bourne family, do something as soon as possible. Here are a few examples of your lack of manners: When you are a guest in another's house, you do not declare what you will and will not eat – unless you are positively allergic to something. You do not remark that you do not have enough food. You do not start before everyone else. You do not take additional helpings without being invited to by your host. When a guest in another's house, you do not lie in bed until late morning in households that rise early – you fall in line with house norms. You should never ever insult the family you are about to join at any time and most definitely not in public. I gather you passed this off as a joke but the reaction in the pub was one of shock, not laughter. You should have hand-written a card to me. You have never written to thank me when you have stayed. You regularly draw attention to yourself. Perhaps you should ask yourself why. No one gets married in a castle unless they own it. It is brash, celebrity style behaviour. I understand your parents are unable to contribute very much towards the cost of your wedding. (There is nothing wrong with that except that convention is such that one might presume they would have saved over the years for their daughters' marriages.) If this is the case, it would be most ladylike and gracious to lower your sights and have a modest wedding as befits both your incomes."

Had you been in Heidi's shoes, what would you make of the situation and would you marry her son or leave him? Do you think perhaps Mrs. Bourne was right in her actions?
