HADEETH

THE CAUSES OF ANSWERS TO SUPPLICATIONS

Abu Hurayrah Radiyallahu Anhu reports that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam said: "There are three whose supplication is answered without doubt: the supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveler and the supplication of the father for his son" (Abu Dawud,Tirmizi)

This Hadith explains that there are three types of supplications that are not rejected:

1. The supplication of the oppressed. And that is due to the oppression that he has suffered and he/she makes Du'a against the one who oppresses him/her. As occurs in the hadith of Mu'aadh, in which Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, as indeed there is no Hijab (curtain/barrier to prevent the Du'a from being answered) between the one who is oppressed and Allah."

2. The supplication of the traveler. Due to the difficulties a traveler faces, his supplication during his journey will be answered. Even though we enjoy luxurious accomodation etc in today's era, the saying goes "Home sweet home".

3. The supplication of the parents for their child. This applies whether the parent makes Du'a for the child or against the child, both types of supplications will be answered. It is therefore upon the children to do all that they can to have their parents make Du'a for them. This is done through pleasing one's parents, being obedient to them and showing them goodness. Along with this, they (the children) must also take all precautionary measures to make sure that Du'a is not made against them, due to their disobedience and lack of goodness towards their parents.

FEEDBACK

The Radio Islam Newsletter on Friday (08-07-11) posted a true story under the 'Smile' section. Friday's Newsletter

We asked for feedback to see what you, the subscriber would have done in such a situation. Here are a few of the comments along with the survey results...

"If I was in Heidi's shoes when I was younger, I would probably have taken offence and been very cold and hostile towards Freddie's stepmother thereafter and probably have said something like "I hate her". I may have still married him. Now that I'm older, I have more maturity and would probably look at her comments with more consideration and tried to evaluate whether she was right about many of the things she said and, then tried to rectify my poor manners or behaviour to become a more respectful and accommodating person. I would dislike her e-mail but would appreciate that someone pointed out my wrong doings so that I could rectify them and would probably still marry her step-son."

"The future mother in law tried to advice the daughter in law. Most mother in laws prefer to gossip about their daughter in laws, rather than speak to them fave to face about their issues. I dont think the mother in law in this case was wrong."

"I would still marry her son, just like she has her ways of doing things so do I, she should learn to compromise. And I will definitely make sure I get my own place when I get married, and not move in with her."

"I would tell the future mother in law to please go to finishing school herself and learn about manners. And that she could keep her son as well!"

RECIPE
Steak & Potato Pie

Ingredients:
500gr rump steak, finely cubed

1 tsp ghee
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp fresh red chillies

1 tsp salt

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp steak & chops spice

½ tsp lemon pepper

3 tbsp vinegar

1 tbsp mustard sauce

1 tbsp chilli sauce

1 tbsp mayonnaise

2 tomatoes, liquidized

2 med potatoes cut into small cubes

Puff pastry
2 egg yolks

Tip: Alternatively one can add cheese and red chutney for a cheesy flavour.

Method:
Cook on high heat for 5 minutes, reduce heat and cook on low until tender. Boil potatoes until cooked. Combine steak and potatoes. Grease a rectangular oven proof dish. Roll out pastry to fit the base and sides of dish. Spoon cooked steak and potato mixture over pastry. Roll out more pastry and cut a rectangle to fit the top of the pie. Place pastry over filling and press sides down with your thumb. Brush with egg yolks. Take a sharp knife and cut squares deep into the pastry.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and bake in a pre heated oven of 180 degree until golden brown.

THE SMILE

A lady asked her friend one day, "what would you do if you caught your husband cheating?" "Another woman with MY husband?" her friend thought.

"Let's see; I'd break her cane, shoot her guide dog, and call a cab to take her back to the institute for the blind that she escaped from."
