Umm Abdillah, Radio Islam Programming

Editorial writer for Ar-Rasheed - the official newsletter of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa, Ebrahim Patel of Middelburg - spoke to Radio Islam’s Umm Abdillah taking us through our ephemeral dreams of a Caliphate and some of the flaws of democracy. Actively involved in Leadership development; Media; Education; and having won several Entrepreneurship awards, he has written encouragingly on this subject - urging participation, and of ridding our notions that politicking is a dirty and sullied profession.

"Think Global, Act Local"

Before we begin on the subject of the flaws of democracy, let us talk about the Islamic Caliphate and the black flag talk yonder. Many people believe this is an ideal to aspire towards, hence distance themselves from the here-and-now?

Comment: The Caliphate is a dream, something we aspire towards. We cannot however use our aspirations to neglect what’s happening on our local soil. First focus on a localised Caliphate: a bond with the Muslims of African soil, our African milieu and a cohesive use of our resources for and within South Africa. read more

1 Pkt of Doritos – Fusion flavour
250ml sour cream
Optional extras: cooked mushrooms, green peppers, gherkins, etc
Chicken cubed +- 1 ½ cups

Marinate with:
1 tsp salt
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp dhana ground
½ tsp jeero ground
¼ tsp arad
1 tsp red masala

Cook the above in 1 Tbsp ghee/ oil. Once half way cooked add ½ grated tomato. Once cooked add:
1 Tbsp sweet sour sauce
2 Tbsp sweet chillie sauce – simmer on very low for 5 minutes
Don’t let the sauce dry out.

Switch on oven at 180 degrees. Than start to layer nachos, reason being that Doritos should not get soft with the chicken sauce. In an oven proof dish – small square / rectangle, layer the base with Doritos crisp +- half the pkt. Then layer the saucy chicken over this, Throw mushrooms, pepper, gherkins, on top of the chicken. Now spread ¾ cup of the sour cream over this. Then layer the rest of the Doritos over the sour cream. Top with grated cheese. Dot with the rest of the sour cream. Sprinkle oregano if desirable. Bake for +- 10 – 15 minutes or until cheese starts to melt. Serve while hot.

Husband: Hello, room service?
Room service: Yes sir, how can I help you?
Husband: Mmmm... You know Tom and Jerry?
Room service: Yes sir, I know Tom and Jerry
Husband: Wallah Habibi (expression) Jerry is here!!
