PERSONALITY

Ibn Bajjah (Avempace)

c.1106–38

Abu-Bakr Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn al-Sayigh (Arabic ??? ??? ???? ?? ???? ?? ??????), known as Ibn Bajjah (Arabic: ??? ?????), was an Andalusian-Arab Muslim polymath: an astronomer, logician, philosopher, physician, physicist, psychologist, poet and scientist. He was known in the West by his Latinized name, Avempace. He was born in Zaragoza in what is today Spain and died in Fes, Morocco in 1138. Avempace worked as vizir for Abu Bakr ibn Ibrahim Ibn Tîfilwît, the Almoravid governor of Saragossa. Avempace also wrote poems (panegyrics and 'muwasshahat') for him. Avempace joined in poetic competitions with the poet al-Tutili. He later worked, for some twenty years, as the vizir of Yahyà ibn Yûsuf Ibn Tashufin, another brother of the Almoravid Sultan Yusuf Ibn Tashufin (died 1143) in Morocco.

His philosophic ideas had a clear effect on Ibn Rushd and Albertus Magnus. Most of his writings and book were not completed (or well organized) because of his early death. He had a vast knowledge of Medicine, Mathematics and Astronomy. His main contribution to Islamic Philosophy is his idea on Soul Phenomenology, but unfortunately not completed. read more

POEM
How i wish i could have...

Thou I had not seen him,
I feel this powerful love for him.
This sense of loyalty,
This sense of sincerity.
How I wish I could have been there with him.
Hear him, see him, walk behind him on the same footpath.

Oh Nabi Muhammad sallahu alayhi wasallam.
My hero, my leader, my guide
You are the sparkle in my eye,
The beat of my heart,
I'm so mesmerized by you.
How blessed were his companions!
How I wish I could have been there with him in his era, his time.

The best of mankind
Sent to us
To keep us on the straight path,
To lead us to Jannah,
To dwell therein with him for eternity.
I try my best to do good in this world,
so I can be one of the lucky ones.
No poet, no poetry can ever do justice to this marvelous creation of ALLAH.

Oh Nabi Muhammad sallahu alayhi wasallam
How I wish I could have been there with him in his era, his time.

RECIPE
Lemon garlic chicken recipe

Delightful chicken with garlic cloves, vinegar and pepper garnished with lemon, and basil.

Ingredients:
4 chicken Breast Halves (skinless and boneless)
2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
2 tblsp Lemone Juice
1 tsp Paprika
Salt and Pepper according to taste
2 tblsp Margarine or Butter
½ tsp Lemon Zest (grated)

How to make lemon garlic chicken:
Drizzle chicken with salt, paprika and pepper. In a skillet melt butter or margarine over medium-high heat. Combine chicken to skillet when pan becomes hot. Fry chicken on each side till it is slightly browned: it takes about 2-3minutes. Place the chicken on a baking sheet. Sprinkle half of the lemon juice over the chicken. Bake it in a preheated oven to 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Mix garlic to the hot pan and fry till it appears brown in color; it will take about 1to 2 minutes. Combine lemon zest to the pan after 2 minutes. Reduce by half, then cover it and set aside. Combine lemon juice over the chicken once again. Pour the remaining lemon juice over the chicken once again. Bake for another 5 minutes. Take it out. Place chicken over dish of rice. Spoon the sauce on it. Garnish with some lemon-twists, sage or basil.

THE SMILE

The Mafia was looking for a new man to make weekly collections from all the private businesses that they were protecting.

Feeling the heat from the police force, they decided to use a deaf/mute person for this job. Using Mafia reasoning, they figured if he were to get caught, he wouldn't be able to communicate to the police what he was doing.

Well, on his first week, the deaf collector picked up well over $50,000. Foolishly, he got greedy and decided to keep the money. He then stashed it in a safe place.

The Mafia soon realized that their collection money was late. The mafia-leader sent a couple of his toughest hoods after the deaf collector. When the hoods found the deaf collector they asked him where the money was.

The deaf collector couldn't communicate with them, so the hoodlums dragged the guy to a local interpreter.

The Mafia hood said to the interpreter, "Ask him where da money is."

The interpreter signed, "Where's the money?"

The deaf man replied, "I don't know what you're talking about." The interpreter told the hood, "He says he doesn't know what you're talking about."

The hoodlum pulled out a .38 pistol and placed it in the ear of the deaf collector. "Now ask him where da money is."

The interpreter signed, "Where is the money?"

The deaf man signed, "The $50,000 is in Central Park, hidden in the third tree stump on the left from the West 78th Street gate."

The interpreter turned to the hood, "He says he doesn't think you have the guts to pull the trigger!"
