Reflecting on the Worldly Life

Sheikh Ali ibn Abdur-Rahman Al-Hudhaifi - 23 Dhul-Hijjah 1435

His Eminence Sheikh Ali ibn Abdur-Rahman Al-Hudhaifi, may Allah preserve him, delivered the Friday Khutbah entitled, “Reflecting on the Worldly Life”, in which he talked about the true meaning of the worldly life and man’s brief stay in it, showing that this should prompt every Muslim to take advantage of his time by doing acts of obedience to Allah and avoiding evil deeds. In the course of his stirring sermon, he cited a number of Qur’anic verses and Prophetic Hadiths to substantiate these ideas.

Praise be to Allah, the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. He causes the night to succeed the day and the day to succeed the night and everything with Him is in due proportions. I praise my Lord and thank Him for His favours and His grace. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, Who has no partners, the One, the All-Dominant, and I bear witness that our prophet and master, Muhammad, is His servant and chosen messenger. O Allah! Bestow Your prayers, peace, and blessings upon Your servant and messenger Muhammad and upon his family and righteous Companions.

Now then, Fear Allah, Exalted be He, and obey Him, for obedience to Allah is the soundest and most upright way. Take provisions for the hereafter and know that the best provision is fear of Allah. read more

Ingredients

500g Steak fillets thinly sliced and cut into pieces
1 tblsp butter
3 cloves garlic sliced
2 green chillies sliced
1 tsp crushed black pepper
Salt to taste
1 x 125ml fresh cream
Green chillies to garnish

Method
1. Braise garlic and chill in butter
2. Add steaks and seasoning and cook until meat is tender
3. Add water if necessary
4. Just before serving, stir in the cream and heat gently until a thick sauce forms
5. Garnish and serve with French fries.

WHAT FISH

A Parks Board warden finds a man at the Blue Lagoon with ten shad in a bucket.
"That's way over the limit," he says. "You're under arrest."
"But Sir, please," the man says, "these are my pet fish from home. I just bring them down here to let them swim free once a week. When I whistle, they all come back and get into the bucket to go home."
"I don't believe it," says the warden. "Show me."
The man promptly dumps the shad into the sea and gazes after them as they swim away.
After a minute, the warden says, "OK, how long?"
"How long what?" says the man.
"How long till you call the fish back?"
"What fish?"
