PRAYER IS ACCEPTABLE?
"Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness." [23: 2] The emphasis, in this verse, is on humility and concentration in the prayer (Khushu). There is no doubt that as Shaitan (Satan) is the most bitter enemy of man, he always tries to disturb the believer's prayer. As soon as a person begins his prayer, he finds his mind suddenly engulfed with memories, problems, worries, work and his family. He may become so engrossed in his thoughts that he has no idea where he is and what he is doing. His prayer becomes a series of automatic actions, and he will often find himself wondering whether he has prayed three Rakaa or four. This is how Shaitan steals the prayer. Uthman Bin Abi Al-Aas, (may Allah be pleased with him), came complaining to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said: "The Shaitan comes between me and my Salat and causes me problems with my recitation." So the Messenger of Allah, (peace be upon him), said: "That is a Shaitan called Khanzab, so if you feel his presence, seek refuge in Allah and blow a mist to your left three times." He said: "I applied this advice and Allah has rid me off him." [MUSLIM] This Hadith includes two ways to get rid off the Shaitan of Salat. The first is asking refuge in Allah from the Shaitan's evil by pronouncing the words of seeking refuge and this is OK in this case. And the second: blowing with mist to the left three times. This is basically blowing air in a similar manner to spitting, but with a minute mist of saliva, on the condition that this does not disturb or bother the person next to him, nor make the masjid dirty. If someone is at some place and does
not know where water could be found, and there isn’t anyone
from whom he could find out, then in such a case he should make Tayammum
(dry ablution using a purified sand or dust).
However, if he found someone who pointed out water within 1.6 kilometers and he is confident that this person is speaking the truth, or the person himself feels confident of finding water within 1.6 kilometers - then it will be necessary to search for water in such a way that it does not cause any harm or inconvenience to him or to his fellow companions. It is not permissible to make Tayammum without searching for water. If one is definite that there is water within 1.6 kilometers, it will be obligatory to bring the water. ~ BEHISHTI ZEWAR ~ |
