ARE HARDSHIPS OF THIS WORLD A MERCY OR A PUNISHMENT?

According to some narrations, it appears that the hardships of this world are a mercy of Allâh, full of virtues. It is narrated in the Hadîth that the most difficult hardships come upon the Ambiya, alayhi salâm, thereafter upon the Awliya Rahimahumullah, etc. according to their stages.

Apparently contradictory to this, it appears in many âyat and ahâdith that the hardships of this world are due to our sins. According to some Ahadith, it is a sign of Allâh’s wrath.

Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Rahimahullah has given a beautiful explanation of it as narrated by Allamah Ibnul Jauzi Rahimahullah:

"He says that there are three aspects of difficulties and hardships. In some cases it is a punishment and the wrath of Allâh, in some cases it is a compensation for sins and in some cases it raises the status. The condition of each difficulty can be determined as follows:

If the recipient gets angry on the Taqdîr [predestination] of Allâh and complains about it, then it is a sign of the wrath of Allâh and His punishment. However, if the recipient practises restraint [Sabr], then it is a sign of compensation of his sins. And if with patience, the recipient is also happy and experiences contentment, then it is a sign of his status being raised."

From the above, it is related that the difficulties of the Ambiya and the Awliya RA is of the third type.

May Allâh Ta'ala save every Muslim from this first type. Aameen

STEAK CASSEROLE

Ingredients
½ pkt spaghetti boiled in salted water - ½ kilo steak (cut into strips) - 1 tsp green chillies - 1 tsp salt - Pinch Arad - 1 tsp Dhana jeero - ½ tsp lemon pepper - ½ tsp white pepper.
Cook steak with above masala until tender. Tomato Chutney
4 tomatoes liquidized - 1 onion chopped - Curry leaves - 1 tblsp red ginger garlic masala - 1 tsp salt Arad - Dhana jeero.
Cook until thick.

White sauce
½ litre milk -½ tsp salt - 2 tblsp flour -½ tsp oreganum - Black pepper.
Mix all to a paste.

To assemble, layer a long Pyrex dish with spaghetti. Layer steak over the spaghetti. Pour the tomato chutney over then pour the white sauce over. Top with grated cheese and bake in an oven on 180 for 30 mins.
