"If you are grateful I will give you increase." [lbraheem 14:7] Increase in sustenance, wealth, resources and other such things of benefit and blessing.

This great blessing of success was not taken away except by the deviation of the Muslims from the clear and straight path, in terms of belief and action, by Allaah's permission and design, to gain mastery in the land and to take from us our nobility, strength, resources and knowledge. It is not correct that our present condition is due to weakness and lack of technology and resources. That is a symptom not a cause and the wise doctor's concern is to remove the cause.

The Messenger (sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) said:

"When you deal in 'Eenah' transactions (to sell something for a price to be paid at a later date, then to buy it back for a lower price to be paid immediately), when you take hold of the tails of cows, when you content yourself with agriculture...; Allaah will cover you with humiliation and will not lift this humiliation, until you return to your Deen" [Saheeh-Related by Abu Daawood (n.3426) and Bayhaqee in his Sunan (5/316)]

He (sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) also said: "(Consider) a town safe and secure to which its means of subsistence come in abundance from every quarter. But it became ungrateful (Allah made it to taste the utmost degree of hunger and fear because of what they used to do).

This is how we lose our safety and security from Allaah. When we become ungrateful to Allaah and when we do not worship Him in the manner He has prescribed and requested but rather stick to our own ways and inventions, when we abandon the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) in our lives and homes.

CHIPS KEBAABS

1 kg chicken mince – washed and drained well
2 tsp crushed garlic
2 tsp crushed green chillies – more can be added according to taste
Salt to taste
2 tsp jeero
1 tblsp dhania
3 potatoes cut into chips and fried
¼ cup green dhania chopped
2 slices brown bread soaked in ¼ milk

Method
Process mince with all the ingredients except chips. Form Mince into flat patty
Place on fried chip in the centre, and then close mince around the chip. Roll Kebabs in Breadcrumbs, dip in beaten egg and fry over moderate. Heat until done. Or , fry Kebabs lightly and then place covered in the oven for +- 30
Minutes or until done.

INTERIM SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

An interim school superintendent, speaking at a city-wide PTA luncheon, assured members that he was always happy to hear from them about problems. He told them, "You can call me day or night, at this number..."

Suddenly there was a cry from the assistant superintendent.
