Surah Al-Hadeed 57: - (The Iron)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"Compete each other in proceeding towards forgiveness from your Lord and to Paradise, the width of which is like the width of the sky and the earth..." 57:21

COMMENTARY: The competition or race referred to in this verse may have either of the two meanings:

  1. No one has a guarantee for the continuance of his life, health and strength. One should not procrastinate, delay, defer, or put off performing righteous deeds for future, because the time might not come on account of illness, any inability or even death. One should race against inability, weakness and death, so that one may accumulate the treasure of good deeds that may lead one to Paradise before such inabilities may arrive and stop one from the good deeds.
  2. Another meaning may be to compete with one another in good deeds, as Sayyidna Ali RA advises: "Be among the first ones to go to the mosque and the last ones to come out."

Sayyidna Anas RA states: "Try to be present for the first Takbeer of the congregational prayer." [RUH]

POEM
THIS LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION..

We do not have to compete in the race of life since not a single soul is going to win immortality...
Her house maybe larger than yours, Shukr you both have homes.
Her car may be a later model than yours, Shukr you both have means of transport...
Her clothes are designer brands, Shukr you both have clothes on our backs...
Her passport may have more stamps on it than yours, Shukr you both have a warm home to return to.
Her gourmet dishes are works of art compared to yours, Shukr you both never sleep hungry.
Her dedication to her new diet and exercise inspires you, Shukr you both have good health.
Her children always seem to reach milestones faster than yours, Shukr you both have children.
Her selfies of her picture perfect family is flawless, Shukr you both have loving families.
Her qualifications on the wall maybe higher than yours, Shukr you both have intellect.

Comparisons and competition are endless yet we all meet the same end: white Kafan and deep graves.
She is trying to understand and memorize the Quraan, compete with that.
She is trying to read all her Salah with concentration and on time, compete with that.
She is trying to improve her character and Ahklaaq, compete with that.
She is trying to cultivate kindness, generosity and respect in her heart so she can be a better example to her children, compete with that.
She is trying to improve her etiquette and manners towards others, compete with that.
She wants to get closer to her Allah and beautifies the garden of her mind with Zikr so the love for Allah never stops growing in her heart.... now that is your ultimate competition.

Let us all compete For the highest stage in Jannah.

Insha-Allah

THE SMILE

Three kids are boasting about their fathers, as to who is the fastest.

The first one says: “Well, my father runs so fast, he shoots an arrow, then starts running, and he gets there before the arrow”.

The second one says: “That’s too slow. My dad is so swift, he can shoot his gun and be there before the bullet”.

The third one listens to his friends. Then says: “Nonsense, you don’t know what is the definition of fast. My dad is a government employee. He stops working at 5:00 and he is home by 4:45”!!
