ADHERING TO THE WAY OF LIFE OF NABI (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) IS THE FOUNDATION OF GAINING CLOSENESS TO AllAH TA’ALA
Mu’aaz Ibn Jabal (R.A) was a respected Sahaabi (R.A) of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). His merits have been recorded in the Hadith. The ranks of Sahaabah (R.A) had increased exponentially, during this period, such that some Sahaabah (R.A) were fathers and grandfathers whilst others were sons and grandsons. Some Sahaabah (R.A) were Ustaads and others were students.
Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had dispatched Mu’aaz (R.A) to Yemen. Sayyadina Musa Ash’ari (R.A) was already appointed as the judge of Yemen and Sayyadina Mu’aaz (R.A) was being appointed as the governor. When Sayyadina Mu’aaz (R.A) was leaving Madinah Munawwarah, Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) accompanied him to the outskirts of the town walking alongside him and holding on to the reins of the horse whilst Mu’aaz (R.A) was seated on the horse. Naturally, it was painful for Mu’aaz (R.A) to observe Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) walking whilst he was riding but this was Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam’s) instruction, so he abided by it.
When the time had finally arrived to bid him farewell, Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:
“O Mu’aaz, perhaps the next time you come to Madinah Munawwarah, you will not see me.”
Sayyadina Mu’aaz (R.A) immediately concluded that this was to be the last meeting between himself and Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). He began crying profusely. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) turned his blessed face towards Madinah and continued his advice,
“O Mu’aaz! Indeed my beloved friends are those who implement Taqwa in their lives, whoever they may be and wherever they may be.”
Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was drawing Sayyadina Mu’aaz’s (R.A) attention to this point that whether you reside in Yemen or Madinah, if you implement Taqwa in you life, you will gain the closeness and proximity to Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Thus, physical and bodily separation is irrelevant and the underlying factor is attaining spiritual closeness to Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
RECOUPING LOST RENTAL
Question: What can a landlord do to recoup rental from a tenant who has not paid for several months?
Answer: The landlord has the Islamic right to attached goods of the tenant to the value of the outstanding amount. It should be noted that the landlord may not add any interest, penalty charge, administration cost, etc on the outstanding amount. [Fatwaa Mahmoodiya V16/ Page 647]

A not-too-bright candidate for the police force failed in the written examination. Since he was the Chief's nephew, the examiner decided to go easy on him with the oral test.
"Who shot Abraham Lincoln?", asked the examiner. The candidate pondered for a moment and then asked if he could have sometime to come up with the answer. The examiner told him to come back the next morning.
When the would-be recruit went home, his wife asked, "Well, how did it go? Did you get the job?".
"I think so," he replied. "They have already got me working on a case".
