In spite of his noble standing among the Quraysh, Abu Talib, an uncle of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), was quite poor. He had a large family and did not have enough means to support them adequately. His poverty-stricken situation became much worse when a severe drought hit the Arabian peninsula. The drought destroyed vegetation and livestock and, it is said, people were driven to eat bones in the struggle for survival.

It was during this time of drought, before his call to prophethood, that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said to his uncle, al Abbas: "Your brother, Abu Talib, has a large family. People as you see have been afflicted by this severe drought and are facing starvation. Let us go to Abu Talib and take over responsibility for some of his family. It will take one of his sons and you can taken another and we will look after them." "What you suggest is certainly righteous and commendable," replied al-Abbas, and together they went to Abu Talib and said to him: "We want to ease some of the burden of your family until such time as this distressing period has gone." Abu Talib agreed. "If you allow me to keep Aqeel (one of his sons older than Ali), then you may do whatever you like," he said. 2 cups boiling water } sleep in overnight container till very cold
3 cherry flavoured tea bags }
Drain tea bags
Boil: ¾ cup water }
¾ cup sugar } boil till sugar melts do not allow to thicken

Add to tea:
Add ½ cup lime cordial
Freeze or refrigerate

When ready to serve add 1,25 cold ginger ale. Garnish with lemon, fresh cherries or other fruit + mint leaves. Serve cold.

A STORE MANAGER heard his clerk tell a customer, "No, ma'am, we haven't had any for awhile, and it doesn't look as if we'll be getting any soon..."

The manager was horrified and came rushing over to the customer and said, "Of course, we'll have some soon! We placed an order last week and it should be arriving very soon."

After the customer left, the manager furiously said to the clerk. "Never, never, never, say to a customer we're out of anything. Say we've got it on order and it's coming. Now, what was it she wanted anyway?"
