In this Eidgah lecture delivered at the Moses Mabidha Stadium in Durban, Ml Sulaimaan Ravat commenced his talk by explaining that Ramadhan provides us with a platform to realise 1) Who we are 2) What our role on earth is and 3) to inject a renewed sense of purpose into our lives.

Ml explained that in the midst of individual strife and the collective difficulties of the Ummah, it is nessesary for us to realise our worth and value in the sight of Allah and remind ourselves regarding the greatness of this Ummah.

This realization should motivate us to live a life of purpose rather than one of mere existence.

The core of the talk focussed on what a life purpose entails and how it can be achieved.

In conclusion Ml highlighted that there is still much goodness in this Ummah and that even in times of evil and anarchy it is still possible to be a good Muslim and to live a life of purpose and excellence. Read more

At 8 p.m. one night, a pilot who had run out of fuel made an emergency landing at a top secret government base. He was quickly surrounded by security and taken inside to be interrogated. The interrogation was grueling because they wanted to make sure it was an unplanned landing and he was not a spy.

The interrogation lasted all night. At 6 a.m. they refueled his plane and let him go with his promise never to return. Four hours later he returned and landed again. Security met him on the runway. They asked him why he had come back.

"I know I promised never to return but I brought my wife and now you have to tell her where I was all night..."
