Surah Al-Waqiah 56: - (The Imminent Event)

With the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"It is surely the Noble Quran (recorded already) in a protected book [i.e. the Preserved Tablet] that is not touched except by the purified ones [the angels]..." 56:79

COMMENTARY: SOME RULINGS REGARDING THE TOUCHING OF THE NOBLE QURAN -

1. On the basis of the Prophetic Ahadith, the overwhelming majority of the 'Ummah and the four major schools concur that 'purity' is a condition for the permissibility of touching the Noble Qur'an and one is not allowed to touch it in a state of impurity. It means that before touching the Noble Qur'an, one must make sure that no Najasah (impurity) is attached to one's hand, and that he or she is in the state of Wudhu and is not in the state of Janabah (the state in which it is obligatory to take bath).
   
   
2. If the Qur'an is in a cover which is sewn or permanently attached to it in some way, one is not permitted - according to the four major schools - for an unclean person to touch it without ablutions. If however, the Qur'an is covered in something that is not permanently attached to it, one may, according to Imam Abu Hanifah RA, touch it without ablution. However, according to Imams Malik RA and Shafi'i RA, one is not permitted to touch it before taking ablution. [Mazhari]
   
   
3. If a person is wearing a garment, it is not lawful for him to touch the Qur'an with his sleeves or skirt if he is unclean. However, he may touch it with a handkerchief or-a sheet. [Mazhari]
   
   
4. Scholars have ruled, which is proven by this very verse with greater force that a person in the state of Janabah (greater impurity) and a woman in the state of menses or postpartum bleeding cannot recite the Quran, even from memory until a Ghusl (bath) has been taken, because if it is obligatory to honour the written letters of the Noble Qur'an by touching them only in the state of purity, its spoken words deserve the same honour with greater importance. The requirement of this honour should have been that even in the state of minor impurity a person should not be allowed to recite the Noble Qur'an. However, based on a Hadith, the jurists have ruled that it is permissible to recite without Wudu. [Mazhari]

Methi Bhaji Squares

Ingredients
1 cup fresh methi bhaji - 1 410g tin cream style sweet corn - 1 tsp Green chillie masala - 2 eggs - 1 onion chopped - 1/2 cup milk - 1/2 cup mealie meal - 1/2 cup cake flour - 1/2 tsp arad - 2 1/2 tsps baking powder - 1 tsp salt - Sesame seeds - 1 tsp ground jeero - 1/2 cup oil - 1 Tbsp freshly chopped dhania – optional

Method
Wash and chop bhaji leaves and drain well. Blend 1/2 corn, chillies, eggs, onion and the milk together in blender. Empty this mixture into a dish. Sift all the dry ingredients into the corn mixture and mix well. Lightly stir in the Bhaji, oil and dhania. Pour mixture into a greased oven proof dish and bake in a moderate oven for about an hour or until skewer comes out clean. Cool and cut into squares and serve.

CHECKING THE COMPETENCE OF EMPLOYEES

A CEO has his business going well, but he's a bit worried. He decides to check the competence of his employees.

The first person he meets is his assistant:
- Oh, I'd like to ask you just a quuestion. How much make 2+2 ?
- Yes Sir. Do you want a detailed memo oon that?
- No, just answer the question.
- Well, I think it's 4.

Then he goes to the computer tech:
- Hi John! Just a question. Can you telll me how much make 2+2 ?
John runs Excel, and after five minutes answers:
- It is 4.00 E+0, but I'm not sure, the support staff should come tomorrow. Will I ask them to check it?

Then he goes to the accountant:
- Hello mister, can you tell me how muchh make 2+2 ?
- Well, well, I know I'm late. I'm sorryy. I didn't already collect all the data, neither check all the accounts. But I can estimate it now between 3.196... and... let's say... 5.659. But I'll be able to make a much more accurate estimate within two weeks!

A bit disappointed, he goes to the sales manager:
- Hello Bob, could you tell me how much make 2+2 ?
- So... How much do you think it makes?
- I ask you to answer.
- Mmh... you don't want to tell me your price. You want me to make an offer. - Indeed.
- So, let's say 6! No, excuse me, you'ree not that kind of man, you know the market. I sell it to you for 5.25, and that's the price I' make for my best friend!

Then he goes to his lawyer:
- Good Morning Mister. Can you tell me hhow much make 2+2 ?
- Right now?
- Yes!
- So, at first I would say 2, but I'm coonvinced that with a good preparation, we can get 3!

And, finally, he goes to the actuary:
- Hello Sir, can you tell me how much maake 2+2 ?
- Of course. It is... It is... Mmmmh, weell, how much would you like it to make?
