Surah Al-Qamar 54: - (The Moon)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"The people of Nuh denied (the truth) before them. So they rejected our servant, and said, "(He is) a madman", and he was (also) threatened (by them). [9]
"So he prayed to his Lord saying, "I am overpowered, so defend (me)!' [10]
"So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring forth profusely, [11]

COMMENTARY: The Story of the People of Nuh (AS) and the Lesson Learnt from it - (and said, "(He is) a madman", and he was threatened...". The word 'Wazdujir' literally denotes 'he was rebuked'. It refers to the attitude of the people of Nuh (AS) who rebuked and threatened him to stop him from preaching. On another occasion in the Quran, we read that the people of Nuh (AS) threatened and warned him that if he does not stop propagating his message, he would be stoned to death.

Abd Ibn Humaid reports from Mujahid that when some of his people found him somewhere, they would choke him, as a result he would become unconscious. But when he recovered, he would pray to Allah, '0 Allah! Forgive my people, for they do not know the truth'. In this way, he endured the persecution of his people patiently for nine hundred and fifty years, prayed for their forgiveness and understanding of the truth. Eventually, when the situation became intolerable, and he could no longer resist his people, he invoked Allah to help him against them. As a result, Allah opened the gates of the heaven with torrential rain, and the entire nation was drowned which is mentioned in the forthcoming verse.

Allah's Plan

Every leaf on every tree fulfils the plan of Allah.
It breathes Carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen.
The leaf is born and dies without realising its purpose.

Every person has a purpose, whether you realise it or not.
You perpetuate life even when you fulfil your desire.
Our very existence is the fulfillment of Allah's plan.
Fact is stranger than fiction.

RECIPE

CHOCOLATE CREAM AND MINT SWISS ROLL

(Makes 1 large cake)

Ingredients:
4 extra large eggs, separated. 125 ml castor sugar (105 g). 60 ml Snowflake self-raising flour (35 g). 60 ml cocoa powder (25 g). Castor sugar for rolling.

Method:
Beat egg yolks and castor sugar until light and pale. Sift flour and cocoa powder and add to egg mixture, beating well. Beat egg whites until soft-peak stage and fold in with a metal spoon. Spread in a lined and greased 23 cm x 32 cm Swiss roll tin. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 10 12 minutes. Remove from oven and leave to cool slightly. Turn out onto a clean, dry tea towel sprinkled well with castor sugar. Trim edges to ensure rolling without breaking. Remove paper carefully and roll it up with the sugared cloth. Leave it for about 5 minutes, then unroll and leave it to cool further.

For filling
Beat cream and sugar until thickened. Spread over the Swiss roll and sprinkle peppermint crisp over it. Roll up.

THE SMILE

BAD BEDSIDE MANNER

I recently learned a valuable lesson regarding what not to say to patients. At our large hospital, I watched as a nursing assistant pushed an elderly woman in a wheelchair. As he opened the door leading from the clinic into the hospital wing, the patient looked confused. “Where are we going?” she asked.

The nursing assistant gently explained, “We are going over to the other side.”
