Surah Al-Qamar 54: - (The Moon)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"...while every matter has to be settled..." 54:3
"...rushing quickly towards the caller..." 54:8

COMMENTARY: (..."while every matter has to be settled..." 54:3). The literal meaning of the word 'Istiqarr' is to settle. The verse means that everything must ultimately reach its end and the matter must become clear. If a veil is fabricated and cast over the truth or reality, eventually [in its designated time] the false veil will be removed and the truth and falsehood will be clearly distinguished.

(..."rushing quickly towards the caller..." 54:8). The word 'Muhtieena' literally denotes walking quickly with one's head raised above. This, together with the two preceding verses, gives a graphic picture of the Day of Gathering or Reckoning. The people will hasten hurriedly in the direction of the voice of the Caller towards the 'Mahshar' (area of Reckoning). The words: "With their eyes humbled,." in the preceding verse (7) are in no conflict with the present verse, because there will be many different occasions in 'Mahshar'. On some of these occasions, the eyes of all the people will be cast down.

BRAISED CHICKEN STRIPS

INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup plain non-fat yogurt - 2 tablespoons low-fat mayonnaise - 2 ounces crumbled blue cheese - 3 tablespoons finely chopped green onions - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon vegetable oil - 1/2 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into strips - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 2 teaspoons butter - 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce.

DIRECTIONS
To Make Dip: In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, mayonnaise and bleu cheese. Stir in green onion and pepper; cover and refrigerate.

To Make Strips: Heat oil in a large skillet. Season chicken with salt and sautee over medium high heat, stirring frequently, until lightly browned and cooked through, about 7 to 10 minutes. Remove skillet from heat. Add butter and hot pepper sauce to skillet and swirl until the butter melts and the sauce coats the chicken. Serve hot chicken with refrigerated dip mix.
