Surah Ar-Rahman (The All-Merciful)

This Surah is Madani, and it has 78 verses and 3 sections

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"The guilty ones will be recognized [by the angels] by their marks and will be seized by foreheads and feet..." 55:41

COMMENTARY: The word 'Sima' means 'a sign'. Hasan Al-Basri RA says that the day when sentence will be passed against the guilty to go to Hell, the following will be their signs: They will be known by their dark faces and their blue eyes. Through grief their faces will turn pale. The angels will recognize the guilty by these signs and seize them.

The word 'Nawaasi' is-the plural of 'Naasiyah', and means 'forelock'. Some will be dragged by their forelocks, and others will be dragged by their feet. Or it could mean that sometimes they will be dragged by their forelocks and at other times they will be dragged by their feet. The third explanation could be that the angels of punishment will bend their foreheads down to their feet and tie the forelocks to the feet, and throw them into the Hellfire . Allah knows best!

*Chronic Pain*

How does it feel to live life normally?
Not worried that anytime now, you might just literally go insane,
Waking up, falling sleep, walking around, ever so casually,
Not breathing and living every moment without pain.

May we please, for a little while at least, have your undivided attention,
Very soon, we may just become nothing more than a mere mention,
This could be the last time you even see or hear so many of us,
Living in such pain is becoming overbearingly torturous.

The Importance of Punctuation

I'm not the easiest guy in the world to get along with. So when our anniversary rolled around, I wanted my wife to know how much I appreciated her tolerating me for the past 20 years. I ordered flowers and told the florist to enclose a card that read, 'Thanks for putting up with me so long.'

When my wife got the delivery, she called me at work.

"Just where do you think you are going?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" I said.

She read the card aloud as the florist had written it: "Thanks for putting up with me. So long."
