Death is enough as an Admonition

By Saalih Ibn Humayd - Imaam Haram Makki

O People! I advise myself and you to fear Allaah, for he who does not fear Allaah will go astray. Allaah says that which means: "O you who have believed, if you fear Allaah, He will grant you a criterion," (Al-Anfaal: 29), to judge between right and wrong.

Servants of Allaah! He who fears punishment, then the furthest thing to him becomes within his reach and he who harbours false hopes and wishes to live long, his performance and actions become weak. Indeed, the future is near. Your Lord did not create you in vain and will not leave you unavailing, so take provision from this life by which you can protect yourself tomorrow.

The time of death is concealed, and wishes are deceiving. Funerals pass by people, and they prepare them, pray over the deceased, accompany them and carry them to their final abode. You see people viewing them causally and perhaps they might get slightly saddened or grieved, but very soon they become overwhelmed again with the ravishment of this life and the heedlessness of living. read more

THE 99 NAMES OF ALLAH (Asmaa ul Husnaa)

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894)

Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers.." (Sahih Muslim Book-48 Hadith-5)

الْحَلِيمُ

AL-HALEEM: The Most Forbearing - The One Who keeps bestowing blessings, both visible and hidden, on His creation, even though they disobey Him and make many mistakes. So, He forgives and does not give the sinners the punishment they deserve; He encourages them to repent and gives them time to turn to Him.

THE SMILE

THE MOST ANNOYING ENGLISH PHRASES

"Thanks in advance": This demeaning management phrase, often accompanying some unwanted assignment, is the polite corporate way of saying, "You'd better do this terrible thing, or I'll eat your pay cheque."

Instead: Cut to the chase with, "I know you don't want to do this... in advance."

"With all due respect": Almost always coupled with an insult or unsolicited advice, this phrase is a smarmier way to say, "Prepare to be disrespected." Examples include: "With all due respect, you're fired."

Instead: Eliminate the preamble. If you're going to say something that others might find offensive, just say it or keep quiet.
