The Prohibition of Abusive Language, Insults and Curses

By Sh Abdul-Hameed Ad-Daaghistaani - Imaam Haram

Thanks be to Allaah Who prohibited harming the Muslims in all cases and said in this regard which means: "And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, bear (on themselves) a calumny and a glaring sin." (Al-Ahzaab: 58).

I testify that there is no God but Allaah, Who ordered us to perform good deeds and prohibited us from evil acts, and that Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam is His Prophet and Messenger who never hurt nor humiliated others. He, as well as his Companions, may Allaah be pleased with them all, never cursed any person.

When we examine closely our Islaamic laws, we find that they are most protective of the purity of Muslims, in both the abstract and real sense of the word. They cover every type of moral filth and impurity, even extending to the act of insulting people, cursing them or calling them abusive names. These laws also prohibit scoffing at or ridiculing individuals or Muslim societies. Speaking unfavorably of others is lawful in a few essential cases, such as declaring a witness unreliable in a case of law, exposing one or more narrators of the Prophet’s Ahaadeeth if any of them are inaccurate, speaking frankly about a Muslim when marriage is involved, in matters of financial or real estate trust, or employment. In such necessary cases, it is lawful to expose the truth even if such persons have moral defects. This is not a form of slandering or backbiting. read more

THE 99 NAMES OF ALLAH (Asmaa ul Husnaa)

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894)

Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers.." (Sahih Muslim Book-48 Hadith-5)

RECIPE

MUTTON VEGETABLE STEW

30ml cooking oil
2 onions, thinly sliced
600g mutton or lamb, cubed
5 whole cloves
5 whole allspice
5ml salt (or to taste)
10ml crushed, dried red chilies
2, 5 ml grated nutmeg
10ml sugar
500 ml frozen mixed vegetables
150ml water

Method:
Heat oil in large saucepan and braise onions until golden, 5-10 minutes. Add well - washed and drained meat, cover and braise slowly for approximately 30 minutes or until meat is fairly tender. Add cloves, allspice, salt, chillies and nutmeg and cook, uncovered, over high heat for about 10 minutes or until meat has browned well, adding sugar to help the browning. Add frozen mixed vegetables and water and cook, covered, over moderate heat for about 15 minutes. Serve on a bed of white rice.

Variation:
Soak 125 ml sago in 250ml water for 15 minutes. Add to stew after adding frozen vegetables and cook, covered, over low heat until sago is transparent, about 15 minutes. Serve with Mashed potatoes.
