Positivity in Islam: Part 2

Negativity and pessimism is all around us today. It’s like the air we breathe. From early in the morning headlines of murder, fighting, terrorism, abuse, corruption and accidents vie for your attention. And now there is the added concern of Covid-19 as the cases keep on increasing. You end your day with the sad images of death, destruction, recession and crimes.

Then throughout the day, you are bombarded with your own anxieties and concerns. Your head feels like it is going to explode from all the worries and issues, you can`t make the rent again this month, your utilities bill is in arrears, school fees are overdue, madressah teacher called you twice in the month to discuss your child`s behavioural issues, and the list just goes on... read more

Sayyadina Abdullah bin Haarith (RA) says: "We ate roasted meat with the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in the Masjid".

Commentary: From this we find that it is permissible to eat and drink in the Masjid, on condition that the Masjid does not become untidy, otherwise it is Makruh (undesirable) to do so. It is possible that this was at the time of I'tikaaf (in Ramadaan). It was the practice of Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) to observe I'tikaaf every year, and at that time it is obvious that.

THE SMILE

Our four-year-old had been quite sick, so he spent a lot of time lying on the couch watching videos. We realized that he may have been watching too many videos when the following happened.

Our seven month old baby was learning to crawl down the steps and he was finally doing it. So, our four-year-old wanted to see his little brother do it, but he had to go to the bathroom first. When he came out, his little brother was already down the steps, so he said, "Mommy, can you rewind him so I can see him do it again?"
