Education: Part 5

Objective of Islamic Education

The Arabic language has three terms for education, representing the various dimensions of the educational process as perceived by Islam. The most widely used word for education in a formal sense is ta’līm, from the root ‘a-li-ma (to know, to be aware, to perceive, to learn), which is used to denote knowledge being sought or imparted through instruction and teaching. Tarbiyah, (to increase, to grow, to rear), implies a state of spiritual and ethical nurturing in accordance with the will of Allah. Ta’dīb, from the root a-du-ba (to be cultured, refined, well-mannered), suggests a person’s development of sound social behaviour. Red Cake Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 cup soft butter
• 3 cups cake flour
• 4 tsp baking powder
• 1 cup milk
• 1 ¼ cup sugar
• 4 eggs
• a pinch of salt
• 1 tsp vanilla essence

Method

1. Mix all the ingredients together for 10 – 15 minutes.
2. Pour cake mixture into a greased baking pan of choice and bake @180c until done.
3. Icing

• ¼ 1b butter
• 1 cup icing sugar
• 2 tsp hot water
• 2 tsp milk
• 2 tsp vanilla essence
• little red colouring

Method
Mix all the ingredients together. Sspread icing over the cake. Sprinkle coconut on top of the icing.

Car Recognition

A man was annoyed when his wife told him that a car had backed into her, damaging a fender, and that she hadn't gotten the license number. "What kind of car were they driving?" the husband asked.

"I don't know," she said. "I never can tell one car from another."

At that, the man decided the time had come for a learning course, and for the next few days, whenever they were driving, he made her name each car they passed until he was satisfied that she could recognize every make.

It worked.

About a week later she bounded in with a pleased expression on her face. "Darling," she said. "I hit a Buick!"
