Education: Part 1

The 24th of January is annually commemorated as the International Day of Education.

The International Education Day occurs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that led to a global learning disruption of unprecedented scale and severity. The closure of schools, universities and other learning institutions, as well as the interruption of many literacy and lifelong learning programmes, has affected the lives of 1.6 billion students in over 190 countries. As a new year begins, now is the time to step up collaboration and international solidarity to place education and lifelong learning at the centre of the recovery and the transformation towards more inclusive, safe and sustainable societies. read more

A Ray Of Light

In the gloom, a beam of light like a harbinger of hope.

A beam of light in the dark stillness penetrates my heart.

Fascinated by the dancing particles in the beam of light, I stop to stare.

Particles of dust floating like galaxies drifting in the vastness of space.

A beam of light like an arm of solace from up on high giving, you hope.

Like most children, our son has tried every trick in the book. But this one was a new one to me. One day he said in the *sweetest* possible voice, "Excuse me, Mommy, may I be in charge please?" Trying to hold back the laughter, his mom replied, "No, I don't think so!," to which he promptly replied, "Well, could you think about it?"
