Life

I wake in the early morn with the sound of chirping birds and traffic on the highway.

Here comes my little princess, I beam with joy straightaway.

Surprised by my joy, she asks do you get happy when you see your children?
Yes, love wells up like soup in a cauldron.

Soon I wake to the sound of chirping birds, crowing cocks, and a silent house.
I lack the strength and enthusiasm to venture out like a scared mouse.

I wait for my grandchildren to visit. I spoil them with candy and love.
Now all they want is for me to catch them a dove.

My grandson boasts my Nana buys me magnum ice cream. Now he drives his car and takes me for soft-serve ice cream.

I am enjoying my golden years by writing stories, poems, and contemplating.
Realizing the truth is not complicating.

Your body grows old.
But with God you live forever that's untold

CARAMEL PECAN LOAF

Ingredients

2 and ¼ cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp bicarb
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon powder
½ tsp mixed spice
1 cup golden brown sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
1 cup buttermilk
3 tblsp melted
butter 1 cup chopped pecans

Method
Sift dry ingredients and add in sugar. Mix egg, buttermilk and butter and add to dry ingredients Mix well, and then add pecans. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 180c for 30 -40 minutes. Sauce Melt caramel treat with milk and pour over

Sick at Last

A fellow was sitting in the doctor's waiting room, and said to himself every so often, "Lord I hope I'm sick."

After about the 5th or 6th time, the receptionist couldn't stand it any longer and asked, "Why in the world would you want to be sick Mr. Adams?"
