• Lenasia Schools Becoming A Crime Hotspot For Burglary and Vandalism

  Over the past few weeks, various schools in Lenasia have been targeted for burglary and vandalism. The latest one is the Nirvana Secondary School, Extension 3, where criminals entered the staff room’s ceiling. According to Nirvana principal, Mr Suleman Sujee, the criminals did not take much, just some stationary and food from the fridge. more

Fried fish Vrikkadels

Ingredients

• 650g hake
• 3 slices of stale white bread
• 1 small onion
• 1 ½ tsp garlic paste
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp ground pepper
• 1 egg
• 3 Tbsp parsley

Method:
Cook fish in the microwave for 15 minutes and strain in colander. Soak bread in water and squeeze out all the moisture. Combine fish & bread. Chop onion finely and together with remaining ingredients add to the fish. Mix thoroughly. Form balls and slightly flatten in palm of hands. Fry in oil until golden brown on each side. Serve with white rice and ‘gesmoorde’ tomato.

NITPICKING

To resolve conflicts between management and staff, I brought both sides together and asked employees to jot down key words on a flip chart. One participant complained about management’s tendency to interfere and wrote the word nitpicking. A manager leaped to his feet to ask, “Shouldn’t there be a hyphen between nit and picking?”
