NUT DATE BAR
Ingredients
¼ cup melted margarine - ¾ cup sugar - 3 eggs - ¾ to 1 cup nuts - ¾ cup flour - ¼ tsp salt - 1 tsp baking powder - 1 ½ cups cut up dates.

Method
Beat margarine and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs (one at a time). Add nuts and dates. Lastly add flour and baking powder. Bake in an oblong pan for 15/20 mins. When cooled spread chocolate and coconut on top. Cut into squares.

Mother had decided to trim her household budget wherever possible, so instead of having a dress dry-cleaned she washed it by hand. Proud of her savings, she boasted to my father, "Just think, Fred, we are five dollars richer because I washed this dress by hand."
