I rise early in the morning light,
The sun arises, shining bright.
Warmth, happiness, and joy take flight,
Relieving us from the fear of the dark night.

In the cold, dark night, we sleep warm and tight,
While in the light of day, criminals pretend to do right.
Beneath the skin, you are but a skeleton in plain sight,
So why should the shadows fill your heart with fright?

The Light of Allah you cannot extinguish with all your might,
Allah is the Light of heaven and earth, giving mankind insight.

Kaleji ( Safeera Kaka)

1 whole liver, cut into thin slices, soaked in milk and drained
Salt to taste
White pepper
Black pepper
Green Masala
Good Blob of butter
Chopped onions optional

Add butter to the pot when its bubbling add the kaleji and onions and fry . Season well but don’t overcook. Serve with fresh roti.

Garage Sale

I took four tires to a friend's garage sale and was asking 35 a piece. I needed to leave for a few minutes, so I asked him to watch them for me.

"Sure," he said, "but if someone offers less, how low are you willing to go?"

"Try for more, but I will accept 20," I said, and left.

When I returned, my tires were gone. "How much did you get for them?" I asked excitedly.

"Twenty dollars each."

"Who bought them?"

"I did!"
